The best candidates for blepharoplasty are physically healthy and are well informed about the surgery. Typically candidates are at least 35, though genetic factors may indicate treatment for younger people. Candidates may be excluded if they have any of the following conditions: dry eyes, high blood pressure, hypothyroidism, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, or glaucoma.

Dilated eye exam: this is the main modality used to find diabetic retinopathy, a lens is used to examine the retina, and swollen areas or bleeding can be directly seen by your ophthalmologist

Chemotherapy
This is not a serious condition, but when it interferes with sight, it is best to take action to remove it. Unfortunately, pterygium may return despite proper surgical removal. To help prevent future occurrences, surface radiation, conjunctival implants (grafts), or chemotherapy medications can be utilized.

Reconstructive Surgery
She came to Austin, Texas in 2011 and completed a two-year, prestigious, and highly sought after her fellowship in orbital and oculofacial plastic and reconstructive surgery at TOC. This fellowship is approved by the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and is highly specialized, graduating with only approximately fifteen physicians nationwide each year.
