The Department of Public Works is a part of the Town of West Hartford, Conn., which also operates fire, human and leisure services and finance departments. It is responsible for the collection of regular refuse and the recycling of unacceptable curbside items. The department offers snow removal, leaf collection, street repair and sweeping and basement flooding solutions. The Department of Public Works additionally coordinates block party permits. It provides a battery recycling program, as well as tree and storm drain maintenance and cemetery solutions. The department also offers recycling solutions for various electronics items, such as camcorders, answering machines, printers, pagers, transparency makers and word processors.
