I am a Property Manager for a large firm here in Des Moines and have done multiple jobs with Jeremy Valentine of Des Moines Stucco. Jeremy is the most honest contractor that I have worked with in a very long time. I have had mutliple jobs where I suggested extensive work and Jeremy has always found ways to reduce my costs with alternate ideas - he has never done more work than necessary for his own profit. Jeremy always gives me a timeline for completion and always stays close to his estimate. Jeremy's pricing is always up front, honest and reasonable. I will continue to do as much business as possible with Des Moines Stucco - it is very hard to find a reliable, reasonable, "jack of all trades" like Jeremy Valentine.

First, I would have given zero stars, but it isn't an option.

In mid July 2011, I contacted Jeremy Valentine at Des Moines Stucco for stone placement on 10 piers which are 2' X 2' X 14' tall (560 sq. ft). Des Moines Stucco came back shortly thereafter with a bid of just over $6,000 dollars and emailed me a sales contract proposal. Over the course of the next few days, we agreed to a price of $5,600. I asked for them to send me a new sales contract proposal so I could sign it and place a binding contract in place. It never arrived.

I emailed Des Moines Stucco on September 12, 2011, asking for a new contract again. I got no response. I called Jeremy Valentine of Des Moines Stucco on September 13, 2011 and he advised that he had been busy, but could start work in the second week in October 2011 and would email me a new contract.

On October 11, 2011, I still had not received a contract sales proposal. I called Jeremy Valentine of Des Moines Stucco several times over the next few days, only to receive an email that they would not be able to perform services for me due to their workload.

After I responded back via email and essentially told them that they left me in a very bad position and I planned to put my experience on Angie's List, they essentially responded with, "Post whatever you need to to feel vindicated."

The bottom line is that this is not about vindication. This is about keeping your word, treating people the way you want to be treated, and it's about ensuring that no other potential customer has to go through this nonsense with this merchant. They left me in a position where I have to find a mason on very short notice, as it is the middle of October in Iowa, and there's very little time to emplace stone before the winter freeze.

I would like to personally respond to the review posted by Facts_Only. When we were contacted by this client, we were informed that someone else had begun this job and then never finished. We are hesitant to finish jobs that had been partially done by another contractor due to the fact that if the job fails after it is complete, it is impossible to know where the fault lies, essentially putting us in a bad position when a customer complains. This client was very demanding in the beginning, arguing our pricing and timing to get to the job. We already had a full schedule so it worried us that we could not meet his immediate demands (which we informed him of in the beginning conversations). Due to these concerns, we made the decision to not take this person on as a client to avoid a problem down the road. We were simply looking out for the best interest of everyone involved.

This listing has been claimed by a business representative.
