Both occasions I've been to Backstreets, we've been greeted by friendly and personable staff. Immediate seating either booth or at the bar and ordered within minutes of sitting down. Clean, friendly, and very good food. You have a lot of regulars that eat there all the time which gives it a touch of "Cheers". Would definitely recommend it for lunch and dinner. There is also a good band, however, if your going to meet friends on the days the band is playing, get there early...it gets pretty packed around the band and bar area.
The French onion soup and the French dip are spectacular! The drinks are cheap ( in the tavern before 7:00)!Abby and Hannah are service professionals…

The first visit with my boyfriend was ok, food was so so, service could be better, but what really bothered me was the owners neglect to acknowledge us, considering we watched him check on every other customer. We just moved to the area and I really liked the feel of this spot, but it was obvious that only locals got good service. I gave the place a second chance, went with a friend only to have a similar yet worse experience, the same server disappeared to chat it up with locals so often I went 20 minutes without a drink and waited another 35 for the check. My suggestion, if your not there stereotypical clientele find another spot.
Good food. Looks like upscale NY restaurant. Trout is outstanding.
