General Info

The Department of Housing and Community Development, also known as DHCD, provides opportunities for affordable housing and economic development. It also focuses on providing housing opportunities for low- and moderate-income residents in the District of Columbia in Washington. The department offers multifamily housing rehabilitation, and new construction and tenant purchase technical assistance programs. Its Site Acquisition Funding Initiative (SAFI) provides loan funds to nonprofit developers for the acquisition and predevelopment costs of affordable housing. The Department of Housing and Community Development s housing regulation administration oversees residential housing regulations related to condominium and cooperative conversions, rent adjustment procedures and licensing. The department is located in Washington, D.C.
