AZ Air Conditioning and Heating

The Sales Person and his guys installed a Lennox heating system in my 1923 cottage. They were all a pleasure. He explained everything very thoroughly and his workers were excellent. Everything was left spic and span. The building inspector who came to check it out was even impressed with all the work done in the attic, and a friend of mine can’t believe what a good job they did plastering the walls where they took out the old wall heaters. I heartily recommend them!

I called and scheduled an appointment for service on my air conditioners, and was pleased that I was able to be scheduled for next day service. My service appointment time came and went, without any contact from the service company. I had to call twice, including one time more than an hour after the appointment time, to find out that the appointment had been canceled by the local service center because it was outside their service area. It is completely unacceptable and just plain horrible customer service to set an appointment that can't be fulfilled and the have the customer have to call twice, let alone once, to find out about it. No one at the scheduling center was willing to offer me any sort of remedy or assistance in finding a service provider who could help me, or accept responsibility for the mistake and fulfill the appointment time. I strongly recommend against using this company. If they don't know their own service area and can't be bothered to call to cancel an appointment and apologize, who on earth knows what kind of actual service they do provide?

I called them on Friday because my heater did not work and they arrived between their time slot. I had called them previously and received good service. Not this time! They thought that my heater had a wire defect. They tightened the wires and started writing a bill. I then realized that my heater was not working and without further investigation they replaced my gas valve for 630 dollars. Once they left, the heater still did not work.

I called them within 20 minutes of leaving to tell them the heater was not working and I heard every excuse in the book of why they could not return (boston traffic - really?, it was going to be a warm weekend - 30's, etc). After coaxing them to come back and they actually investigated it, it turns out my thermostat was broken. Instead of apologizing and remedying the situation, they pretty much made it worse by giving me a lot of attitude like your whole heater needs to be replaced to justify keeping the 630 part in my heater. What I needed was a 30 dollar thermostat.



With the bad attitude, rude customer service and lack of knowledge, I would highly recommend you not try them out.

The "technician" who called back had no interest in listening to what might be wrong and was instead doing a hard sell to send out a technician without bringing the appropriate part. He was rude and tried to intimidate me into just accepting his waste of time and money approach. I'm glad I smelled a rat and told him "no thanks" because as I sat down to write this bad review I realized tons of people have had really bad experiences.

My land lady recently used A Z Air Conditioning & Heating to replace the furnace for my apartment (the old one broke). She is a little elderly, and I felt these folks took advantage of her by selling a larger furnace than my apartment needs and leaving some aspects of the installation unfinished (I'm guessing with the idea she would not notice; or would be reluctant to complain). The main concerns were:

- The new furnace is a lot bigger than the old one and heats my apartment very quickly; I'm sure a smaller one would have been just fine. A Z Air Conditioning & Heating told my land lady that a similar sized replacement to the old furnace would not have had enough heating power

- The new furnace does not have the inlet air filter installed. Maybe it doesn't need one; however looking at the huge unit wedged into the small space my guess is there wasn't any room left for the filter so they just removed it and taped around the gap

- The On/Off switch for the new furnace is wired the wrong way around i.e. On means Off and Off means On. Hardly good for safety and sloppy at best.

- They installed a new exhaust vent tube for the furnace. The tube looks improvised and the silver tape to make an airtight seal has already peeled off (one day later)

On the positive side the furnace _does_ work and warms my apartment very quickly, and these folks also came on a Sunday to do the installation.

So overall, unless you know your furnaces and can make sure you aren't mis-sold the wrong unit / can supervise the installation - I would steer clear of these folks!

After pointing out the problems to my land lady they returned to fix the On/Off switch and exhaust vent tube; however there is still no inlet air filter.

Hot air is now blowing out from the sides of the furnace (instead of into the apartment ducts). The attachment between the furnace and the ducts is clearly not solid.
