I took my maltese mix in for a trim and got him back shaved to the nub--including his mustache and eyelashes. He was terrified and clung to me shaking. They said, "we didn't hurt him but..." They also told me my plan of getting him trimmed only was not practical up here, which is why they decided to shave him completely bald. Don't do it! There are many caring groomers who will do what you ask and give you back a dog that's not traumatized.

Worst groomer! These people are insane. I wish I had read the reviews before I took my dog here. First of all the place smells awful, smells like cat urine, it's overwhelming. Second, I asked for a bath and brush, they shaved her! She is a Saint Bernard mix, you don't shave dogs with that type of coat, especially in the winter, in freaking Truckee. What are we going to do in the snow? My dog loves the snow, she now only has a half inch of coat! They are unbelievably stupid people, after charging $125, they actually tried to sell me a dog jacket, are you freaking kidding? She had a natural jacket that they SHAVED OFF! I usually take her to petco where they do a fantastic job, and remember her every time. I thought that this time I would "keep it local", stupid me. I dropped her off at 9:30 and and when I picked her up at 2:30 she was shaved. They said she had too many mats which was total bull, I get her groomed on a regular basis and she had no more mats than she ever has. If she had so many mats they felt she needed a complete shave they should at least call the owner and make sure its OK first! The shave job itself is super crappy. If I had a dog that needed shaving, I would have been bummed anyway. The coat is uneven, and you can see weird lines where the hair is really short. AND to top it off she cut one of my dogs nails too short and it was bleeding for hours. I called my Vet to ask her about the situation and was told that her type of breed should NEVER be shaved, even in the summer. That her coat regulates her body temp. She also let me know that due to her age and the fact that she has a thyroid problem, her coat may NEVER GROW BACK! She was just seen at the Vet and they could not believe that anyone would think that she was so mated she would need a shave. I am beside myself. DO NOT BRING YOUR ANIMALS HERE!
