Dr.Akel 10 STARS.Florida Cardiology office manager / BUFFOON -0 STARS. Tried to talk to this BUFFOON about the hour wait past my appointment time (Now I do understand a little wait it's a doctors office) and that I was scheduled to be at work at noon. All she could say is that she would cancel my appointment. She had no intrest in the fact that I work for a living and that I also have a schedule. Or that the women at the counter told me that there was 1 patient ahead of me 1/2 an hour ago. She also failed to understand that I had the right to be upset that I had to call my employer and let them know that I would be a couple hours late. She also failed to undersand the reason for scheduling an appointment time. Dr.Akel is a great cardiologist with great care for the patient. I only wish I didn't have to look elsewhere for care. But this BUFFOON informed me that I would be receiving a letter in the mail stating that I'm no longer a patient of Dr. Akel or Florida Cardiology Associates.
This BUFFOON should never have contact with the patients and should take a refresher course to polish up her customer service skills.

Overall

I visited Florida Cardiology Associates, for a check up, as I'm new to the area. I needed to update my prescriptions and find a new cardiologist.

The nurse the did my ititial exam, told me that my one of my medications was too strong, and I should take less. (I had taken this water pill for years prescribed by my two cardioligsts, and the director of the heart transplant division of Yale medical hospita), but this nurse knew more. She went on to tell me that just because these other Drs told me I had congestive heart failure, how did I know I had it.

I'm guessing this nurse runs the whole show there, since she changed my prescriptions. I didn't know nurses can do that. I guess in Florida they can.

Finally my new Cardiologist came in. Spent 5 or 10 minutes and said he'd catch up with my next month. Wanted to to have some therapy done in his office, but I guess I didn't need any blood tests. He must have known my blood didn't need testing. Just some therapy that wasn't covered my my medical plan, that his office staff could perform.

The moral of this story is when the nurses start writting the prescriptions and the Drs don't need any testing there's something wrong.
