Sylvan Learning of Hamilton Township

Mark, Amy and all the staff at Sylvan have been instrumental in getting my little one on track. My son is 8 years old, we started him while he was physically in the 2nd grade (on year 2 of virtual learning due to COVID) he has an IEP for reading as well. His reading level was hovering in the low kindergarten level. He hated reading, had zero confidence in himself, and was all but giving up.
As parents, we supplemented, we read to him, and with him, we tried every book, video, app, flash cards, and tactic you can find. We watched our little boy learning at the speed of the fastest runner in quicksand. So much effort, almost zero ground. He was burned out.
When the center opened back up, I knew we needed a different strategy. Mark listened with the most empathetic ear. He assured me that we were not the only ones in this situation, and offered a plan to help. Within the first few sessions I saw an immediate change in confidence. Over the last 6+ months, the progress he has made has been awe inspiring. He enjoys going to the center, he enjoys (usually) putting in the work to get to *his* goal. The reward system works wonders as an extra boost there as well.
My little one is closing the gap, but doing so willingly. As a parent, I am so very thankful for the amazing job Sylvan is doing. The teachers and staff are patient and so very caring!
