Dr. Rikin Patel was born and raised in Toronto, Canada. He moved to the United States in 1992 and completed his secondary school education at the Mercersburg Academy in Pennsylvania. After graduating from Cornell University, Dr. Patel attended the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine for medical school and went on to complete his residency training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at NYU Medical Center in New York. He joined MBO in 2008 after completing subspecialty training in Interventional Pain Management at Mount Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, MD and Orthopaedic & Spine Specialists in York, PA. He is board certified in both PM&R with subspecialty board certification in both Sports Medicine and Pain Medicine. Specializing in Non-operative Orthopaedic and Spine Care. He specializes in percutaneous procedures of the spine epidurals, spinal nerve blocks, intradiscal therapies, radiofrequency ablation and spinal cord stimulators as well as joint injections and peripheral nerve blocks. Dr. Patel also treats a wide variety of musculoskeletal and sports related injuries, providing non-surgical and biologic treatment options for pain. He incorporates ultrasound into his practice to help diagnose and treat common sprains, strains, ligament and tendon injuries. One of his areas of expertise is in regenerative orthopedic medicine with a special interest incorporating stem cell and prolotherapy injections to promote healing of orthopedic injuries. He enjoys lecturing on this topic at many peer conferences and serving as the director of our biologic service line. Dr. Patel grew up with a passion for playing sports especially hockey, basketball and golf and remains an avid sports fan.
