Oral Cancer Screening

Our goal is to help you avoid problems with great preventative care or to detect and treat problems as soon as possible. On your first visit, we will get to know you, including your past dental health. You will have a thorough exam, including an oral cancer screening, and we may take x-rays to check for any problems. If you need treatment, we will discuss your options, explain procedures, and make sure all your questions are answered.

Teeth Cleaning
At your routine checkup, your dentist will be examining your mouth, carrying out any necessary dental cleaning and will take x-rays to get a full picture of your overall oral health. Routine checks can also highlight any other general health issues that can be referred to a doctor.
Fluoride Treatment
Topical fluoride treatment is applied directly to the teeth. The different forms it comes in includes varnish, gel, foams, rinses and toothpaste.

Fillings
Teeth can be filled with any number of materials. The most common types of dental fillings are composite and amalgam fillings.

Root Canal Treatment
If you visit your general dentist with tooth pain or a history of pain within the root of the tooth, your dentist may refer you to an endodontist. Although many general dentists perform root canal therapy, in many cases they prefer to refer treatment to a specialist for endodontic care.
Apicoectomy
If you have a root canal but your tooth cannot be successfully treated, your endodontist may recommend an apicoectomy. This surgical procedure removes and seals the very tip of the tooth root. This option can eliminate remaining infection and can save the tooth from extraction.

Gingivectomy and Gingivoplasty
Pocket reduction surgery or flap surgery is also known as a gingivectomy. The gum is cut and lifted back. The debris is then cleaned out, and the gum is sutured back so it fits around the tooth perfectly.
Deep Cleaning
If someone hasn’t visited the dentist for a long time, there can be a substantial buildup of plaque and tartar that will need removing. Debridement is a deep cleaning of the gums and teeth. Not everyone will need this even if it’s been a while since you last saw a dentist.

Dentures
The days of hiding your smile because of missing or failing teeth are over, thanks to dentures. Dental dentures are artificial teeth and gums that replace missing teeth. If you are missing all of your teeth on the top or the bottom, you can get dentures to replace them, called a full arch. If you are missing one or a couple of teeth, you may get replacements that are called partial dentures.

Tooth Extractions
Teeth extraction comes in two forms: simple and surgical. A simple extraction involves numbing tooth and gum tissue with a local anesthetic, then loosening the tooth with a dental instrument before removing it with dental forceps. A surgical extraction is more complex, and dentists usually have to use this method of extraction when a tooth has broken off at the gum line or if it has not emerged from the gums yet.
