Assisted Living in Springfield, MO

Beautiful facility and that is about it. We expected an "Alzheimer's Special Care Unit" but it is anything but that. Not only is there not enough staff for the need of the patients, but the staff is untrained and many times unprofessional. The leaders of this facility fall short of the founders wishes to create a facility for the specified needs of an Alzheimer's patient. Maple Wood is just another nursing home and not a good one at that. Patients would constantly be begging to be taken to the bathroom or to get them a drink of water and there was very rarely anyone available to help them. Patients would sit for hours in the same place with no interaction. The problems we had here became severe and concerning and I would never recommend such a place to anyone. Maple Wood was created with a grand vision to become the perfect place for Alzheimer's patients to get the special care they need. Don't believe the marketing and don't believe the sales pitch you get when you visit. All that glitters isn't gold.

The issues with this company never cease to amaze me. The two women who care for my grandmother have no nursing credentials or licensure. They don't perform CPR, they are simply uneducated women who walk around handing out and controlling/stealing your loved ones medications. What inspired me to write this is I had gone to visit my grandmother and she was incoherent, had fallen, vomiting, and having labored breathing and having loose stools. Come to find out the integrity people had been stealing her pain patches, breaking her pain meds in half and completely stopped giving her the anxiety medication. I called an ambulance and the EMTs wanted to speak with her and obtain my grandmothers medicine list and the woman literally took off. These people have inflicted so much strife and stress in the lives of our family, when we should be relishing the days we have left with our precious Grammy. Do it yourself but don't do business with integrity because they have none. God bless.

I have never known that such a place existed! This is where you find the varous resources that makes living with a disability a little easier.
