Sno Falls Credit Union

Don't bank here! They encourage kids to open an account there to begin learning about saving. So we did it with our kids, aged 4 and 7. Then it had been a while since we'd made a deposit and they started charging our kids' small accounts $5 per month for an inactive fee. My wife tried to make a deposit, but they wouldn't let her because only my name and the kids' names are on the account. They are only open til 5:00 on M-F and no weekends so it was hard for me to get there with work. A couple more months passed and I went to the bank today with the kids to make another deposit and asked them to return the inactive fees to my childrens' accounts. They said they wouldn't. We closed accounts. They took $20 from each of my young children. They weren't interested in trying to help the process. We'll go to another bank. I guess local isn't better.

First off, I want to mention that I think most of the employees there are very nice. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same for the management and upper management, including the CEO. The few times I have spoken with a manager, they have been downright nasty. My last experience with them was so bad that I decided to write a letter to the CEO. The return email from her was very insincere and she stood up for her employee. I was dumbfounded.



Recently, I just met the CEO in person for the first time. She came into my place of business, trying to sell Business Board Reader Time at the credit unions branches. She didn't know who I was, and I tried my best to listen to what she was selling me without having any animosity towards her recent insincere response. She explained that they are a "community oriented" Credit Union and how they love to support local businesses. Out of curiosity I asked her where she lived and where she buys certain products that we happen to sell at our store. She told me she bought these items at Costco. I was flabbergasted! I couldn’t believe she had just given me, a local business manager, a big spiel about supporting local, yet she buys this product at Costco! Unreal!



Their ethics are phony and they need customer service training! Sadly, I don't like to support large corporations, so closing my account is especially sad, since I am a person that DOES like to support the local little guys. So my search for an honest "small town feel" bank/credit union is on.
