Faial Restaurant & Lounge

I took my wife out on July 3rd for our 29th wedding anniversary. We have gone to the Smithfield site only many times, and with as many as four additional couples. Never had a meal that was not great, and never had anything but great service, and a good time. This last time was different. We got a great place to park right outside the door, but we were told the gift certificate we had purchased there could only be used at the Greenville location. I did not even know they had another place. We got back in our car and did finally locate the Greenville site. This was not easy because there was not a sign, or even a street number posted on the building. Parking was limited, and we ended up parking in a school lot which translated into a walk of over a hundred yards each way. I was then told that they would only honor half value of the gift certificate, and that even that half could not be used for alcohol. The meal and service was otherwise still excellent, but it totally ruined what we thought would be another enjoyable anniversary. I doubt if we will ever go back. As a businessman (retired), I would never turn away customers and put them through the experience. In my younger days, it would not have bothered me as much, I did used to walk miles to attend shows and concerts. Now my wife and I are in our 60's, and will not do that experience again. If your a Navy Seal--I would recommend this place--the walking will not be too much for you.

My husband and I dined at this restaurant last Saturday evening. There was no wait we were sat immediately. The server came over introduced herself as Donna, she then proceeded to go over specials. She brought us bread and asked if we were ready to order? We gave her our food order and she left abruptly without asking us if we wanted some drinks. Thank God we had some water ! She never came back until it was time to deliver our meal. We then ordered a drink which took 20 min to get! We had asked once where our drinks were, she answered abruptly I'm getting them! When it came time to leave she brought us our containers to wrap our leftovers ourselves threw the bags on the chair and left. We noticed she very kindly wrapped 2 other tables orders very nicely when they left! Would I recommend this restaurant NO!!!!
