Canterbury is an independent consulting firm established in 1988 to provide comprehensive investment advice to institutional clients and high net worth individuals. Our team is dedicated to helping clients meet their investment objectives through appropriate asset allocation, optimal investment manager structure, and continual review of managers and total fund performance. Canterbury brings the following key strengths and core competencies to all of our client relationships: Canterbury does not use model portfolios nor do we use a one-size fits all approach to our recommendations. Rather, our consultants take the time to understand each client's unique goals, requirements and tolerances and we customize an asset allocation, a manager line-up and a service model to best meet those objectives. Our employees are Canterbury's principal strength with senior consultants averaging over 20 years of investment experience. Many of our employees have advanced degrees and/or belong to the Chartered Financial Analyst Institute or the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst Association. Our firm culture is collegial, collaborative and intellectually stimulating and our clients are the beneficiaries of our firm's best thinking. Knowledge of money managers is the cornerstone of our business. At Canterbury we give manager research the highest priority, communicating with approximately 500 managers on a regular basis. Clients can feel secure in knowing that Canterbury performs extensive due diligence on all potential and existing managers. Decisions and recommendations are made only after a distinctively collaborative effort combines the judgment and experience of our consultants with the analytical work provided by our research department. Our institutional focus is on working with mid-size tax-exempt organizations and our private client focus is on high-net worth individuals, families and family offices. Our clients are in the Western U.S. because with offices in Southern California and Seattle we want to be accessible and available to our clients in person within a half day of travel. Canterbury has worked hard to make sure the reports we prepare and the information we present to our clients is clear, understandable, and user-friendly. Like our service model, our reporting packages are customizable so that they meet the individual needs of each client.
