Manor Village Scottsdale

This is a Canadian owned and operated facility operated by Canadian standards which are low. Do your homework. The misrepresentation of this facility starts right up front with a story of the founder (a Canadian optometrist) and his mother; both live and lived in Canada. The story is represented as if Manor Village was built by this “doctor” for his mother because she didn’t want to be in a nursing home; a seemingly sweet story. The truth is mom had already passed when the first (Statesman) Manor facility was built in Alberta Canada and dedicated to her loving memory; apparently she never lived in a Statesman facility. You will be told the on-site care service; Staywell is a separate care service company and is not associated in any way with Manor Village/Statesman, not true. Staywell is in the U.S. registered as a private LLC but is owned by and is a trademark of Manor Village/Statesman in Canada. This arrangement is a loophole in the assisted living laws allowing Manor Village to operate under the radar of state assisted living license regulations. The turnover of Administrators is 6 in 5 years. The present one is a real piece of work, no prior experience. The turnover for nurses for Staywell is even greater. My short stay of 7 months was enough. Service by Staywell poorly run and under staffed at night. Many resident food complaints, constantly. Poor maintenance practices (6 months with a fridge that didn’t work). Elevators the residents were afraid to ride on because of constant disrepair. Not ADA compliant in many areas for those in wheelchairs like myself. This facility will nickel and dime you for everything. As of now this facility is represented as an Independent living Facility but is an Assisted Living Facility. Avoid this facility!
