Electrocardiogram
An electrocardiogram or EKG is a basic screening to determine if there are any problems with your heart and arteries. Typically everyone who sees one of our cardiologists will be given an EKG. This is a painless test that takes only a few minutes and requires no prior preparation before you arrive. It is important, however, to mention any medications that you are currently taking before coming for your appointment since some prescriptions can alter the accuracy of the test.

Using a flourascope and intracardiac ultrasound, a specially-trained cardiologist carefully positions the implant through the hole in the heart and then expands the two sides of the disc until the middle part of the implant rests snuggly against the heart wall. The result is like cuff links or buttons filling the holes on a shirt.
MRI
Available at St. Joseph’s/Candler Imaging Center – Bluffton, the Oasis High-Field Open Magnetic Resonance Imaging System – better known as an open MRI – is a high-tech imaging tool that benefit both patients and physicians. It produces excellent imaging results, is less claustrophobic for patients and reduces the likelihood of having to reschedule if you are not compatible with that MRI system.
Radiology
When you get services from an in-network hospital or ambulatory surgical center, certain providers there may be out-of-network. In these cases, the most those providers may bill you is your plan’s in-network cost-sharing amount. This applies to emergency medicine, anesthesia, pathology, radiology, laboratory, neonatology, assistant surgeon, hospitalist, or intensivist services. These providers can’t balance bill you and may not ask you to give up your protections not to be balance billed. Under Georgia law this rule also applies to imaging centers, birthing centers, and similar facilities in addition to hospitals and ambulatory surgical centers. If you get other services at these in-network facilities, out-of-network providers can’t balance bill you, unless you give written consent and give up your protections.
Mammography
3D, digital mammography is the gold standard in effectively finding cancer in the breasts. A 3D mammogram offers patients a more comprehensive exam and allows radiologist a thorough image of potentially overlapping tissue in the breast for better visualization of early cancers. We offer 3D mammography at all five of our imaging centers (Telfair Pavilion, Telfair Breast Imaging – Eisenhower, St. Joseph’s Hospital and our Pooler and Bluffton imaging centers).
