A Leader Among Salt Lake City's Urological Specialist

Dr. Labasky received his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston in 1983, graduating with Honors and several Awards. He finished his Urology residency specialty training at the University of Utah in 1988, and then completed subspecialty fellowship training in Female Urology and Urodynamics (now called Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery). This training was with Dr. Gary Leach, one of the countrys foremost specialists in the field, at the Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Los Angeles. After his fellowship training in 1989, Dr. Labasky was asked to be a member of the Faculty of the Urology Division in the School of Medicine at the University of Utah. With his unique fellowship background, Dr. Labasky became the first urologist in Utah with such subspecialty training. While at the University, Dr. Labasky was involved in training young urologists and students, research, and patient care, including surgery. In 1999, Dr. Labasky opened his private urology practice in Sandy where he continues to care for patients with a range of urologic concerns and diseases, and continues to lecture on urology conditions to physicians and the public. Throughout his career, Dr. Labasky has been active in numerous professional leadership roles in medicine and urology. He has served in several positions in the Utah Medical Association including as President and Board member. He has been a Board member of the Utah Medical Insurance Association, Chairman of the Utah Urological Association, and President and Department Chair of the Alta View Hospital Medical Staff. Nationally, he has served on the American Urological Associations Bladder Cancer Guidelines Panel and the American Medical Associations Council on Long-Range Planning.
