Founded in 1949, KRON-TV is an independent television station that provides local and national programming. The station was originally an affiliate station of the National Broadcasting Company. It has been independent since 2002. The station serves more than 2 million homes throughout the Bay Area of California. The station is a subsidiary of Young Broadcasting. Young Broadcasting is an owner and operator of television stations in a geographically diverse array of markets. In addition to television stations, the company owns Adam Young, a national television representation firm. Young Broadcasting owns stations that are affiliated with the American Broadcasting Company, NBC and Columbia Broadcasting System. Young Broadcasting is based in New York. KRON-TV is headquartered in San Francisco.
