Regent Care at Medical Center

I am the M.P.O.A. for a 78 year old male. He was transferred there from University Hospital after spending a week there with a serious blood infection. He was transferred there for rehabilitation.My initial impression was how casual the intake was. I did not receive a tour of the facilities or a welcome packet with at least a facility map. In fact, I did not sign the agreement for treatment, doctors or medications until his fifth day there. On his second day he suffered a fall in spite of my advice to them that he was a high risk fall since we arrived. There was blatant disregard for safety from the very beginning. Incidents like leaving a tank ( not a concentrator) of oxygen free standing with no stand. There was a pulse sock left on him for at least 2 hours and the call button response was more than 45 minutes at times. The lack of professionalism from certain staff members was epic. Then again I have to admit that their therapists went above their call of duty. One for example changes his soiled clothes because no one had responded to his call. Another tightened the knobs of the rail guards that were visibly loose. I complained to nurses, intake coordinator as well as the director but about the only thing that changed was his call monitor. They did begin responding faster but this was only after I and family members had brought it to their attention multiple times. I never saw any pictures of staff and their titles. No complaint or compliance information was posted either. The atmosphere of the facility is very nice with neatly manicured lawns but that is just the aesthetics. I cannot say the same for their administrators whom I felt regarded my complaints more as a nuisance than constructive criticism. I truly believe there is much room for improvement in the protocol of this facility.
