The Cleaning Authority - Salisbury

This is the worst cleaning company ever. Cathy charges way too much for it to be cleaned and says its to pay her girls. She keeps most of the money and they only get 10$ of it. She is the most awful, nasty, money scamming boss ever. She shits her workers out of there money and hours. She calls and texts them and rushes them through every house. That's why the clean isn't so good. She leaves nasty voice mails for them and I would never ever recommend anyone to work for her or get there house cleaned by her. I was a former employee for her and she treats them like shit. And if you leave a tip she keeps it from the girls. She pockets it.

I had the same problems as below. Very disappointed. My first two cleans were very thorough and impressive. My last one with a new crew this month left me disappointed as it felt just as unclean as when I left. As I inspected, nothing seemed fully dusted and bathrooms were left dirty with soap scrum, mold, and hairs left behind from the last shower. My floors were not treated properly. When I spoke with Cathy to explain my disappointment in this "clean", she was rude and did not seem to want to repair this situation. Business does not seem to be of importance to her nor is the saying "the customer is always right". I know how I left my home; thus, to keep a customer's business you would think this company would work to make a poor situation better! This is not how i would operate.

We hired Cathy and Cleaning Authority a couple months ago to come clean our home every other week. Initially, we toured her through our home and made sure that she saw our bathrooms and was made aware of any problem areas; with merely a glance, she made matter-of-fact with statements like “a bathroom is a bathroom” or “you’ve seen one, you’ve seen them all”. Ultimately, we were pleasantly surprised that following the 2 initial detailed cleanings at $120 each, the regular cleaning rate would be $70 – we signed up for the service.



Things went well for the 2 initial cleanings and the next several, until a substitute cleaning team was used due to an illness with one of our regular team members. That week during the “detailed cleaning” of the bathrooms, that substitute team failed to clean the bathroom floors and left a lot of hair and debris. We called Cathy and she had them come back, though she seemed quite annoyed that we complained. These things happen sometimes and we understood. Our regular team returned the next cleaning (one new member) and we were back on track with high quality service.



Suddenly after our last cleaning, Cathy contacted us via email and indicated that she was no longer able to clean our residence at the rate in our agreement due to the amount of time the team spent at our home. I am not sure what changed but the team of 2 seemed to spend about 2 hours in my home and that matched the timeframe Cathy quoted up front (1.5-2 hours/cleaning). Without notice or any discussion, she indicated that the rate would go up to $85/cleaning if we chose to continue with the service. Nothing in the agreement indicated that we were subject to rate changes at the whim of the franchise owner, so we were taken aback at this approach and at how willing she was to walk away from our business. We pushed back and said that she had ample time to assess our residence and give us a comprehensive estimate. She replied and indicated that we were free to walk away if we were unwilling to accept the rate hike.



Since we thought the price was on the low side initially and we have a family of 5, we were willing to discuss the rate provided that she gave us some notice. She indicated that notifying us that our rate would change for the next cleaning was in fact “giving us notice”. I told her that she was “putting us on notice” and that was different. I asked her to sit down with us and discuss what would be fair and define when the rate hike would start. She was unwilling to do that and exercised her right to terminate the contract as per the agreement. This was the most unprofessional experience that I have ever had with a service and Cathy’s pompous attitude was extremely disappointing. I think she specializes in “easy” business and apparently churns and burns through customers AND employees. Terrible and shady!

Avoid, Avoid this company money pit for the less than adequate services received!!!



This company and its owners are not trust worthy at all!!! Their guarantee is worthless. They say they want to be made aware if the job wasn't satisfactory, but when you do make them aware the owner insinuates you are lying and doesn’t even make an attempt to come out to verify the issues. Instead puts it off that it’s the homeowners mistake. The owner made statements that she was going to do some things, but those items were never followed through with and never happened. Be aware that the so called A & B cleaning that they charge $130 for each time is a bunch of crock!! They did no more as part of the deeper clean then they did the regular visit. The last time their crew was out they did not even vacuum the floors nor did they clean the tubs as they were supposed to do! This crew was in & out in about an hour, when it’s taken other crews over 2 -3 hours to clean my home.



Stay away from this company at all costs!!!!

If I can't trust this company to take my name & address off their mailing list, I sure won't trust them to clean my house! I have written to them 5 times to take it off their list and still they keep sending them. Obviously run by total DUH HUHs.
