NEVER AGAIN!! I went there last night only because I was in a time crunch and my usual place could not get me in at the time I needed. It was a disaster I'm not sure if I was just unlucky with the tech I got but I won't try again. First she burnt my finger, then she glued her finger to my finger. I should have knew at that time to get up and walk away. I wish I would have. When she was putting the nail on I requested them to be narrow, after she filed them I told her they were too wide that I didn't like the shape and asked if she could make them more narrow but instead she decided to argue that my natural nail is that wide. Simple fact the natural nail I brought with me last night is the same I have owned for 38 years!!! They are not at all wide. So I said ok and figured I just wanted to be done so I let her finish. Fake nails are not permanent and can be fixed later and not worth the argument. But I really liked the color I picked out so at least I would be leaving with something positive. It got worse! She used the cuticle cutter and took a chunk of meat out of my finger!!!! I got a bunch of apologies and she took $5 off my bill!!!!!! So I left with the ugliest nails and a bandaid. I can not believe it. I should have stayed home! Like I said I might have just been unlucky on the person I got but you should be able to walk into a place and be taken care of and not hurt no matter who's chair you sit in. I will never press my luck there again. I hope this wound heals quickly so I can get them fixed somewhere else.
DO NOT GO HERE!!! I HAVE NEVER HAD A WORSE EXPERIENCE OR JOB DONE ON MY NAILS BEFORE! DO NOT EVEN WASTE YOUR MONEY!!
Everyone was very kind when I walked in and the service was outstanding. I love my gel french tips! Will be definitely coming back soon!
I stopped in here on a whim- seeing as I'm not from the area and let me tell you, these ladies are seriously amazing. They are very friendly and they do an amazing job! My boyfriend and I got pedicures that took about an hour and were so relaxing. I also got a gel manicure. It's one of the best ones I've gotten! Will definitely be returning when I'm in town!
My favorite Saturday morning hang out. Love this nail salon, the technicians are always super nice and friendly. They do a great job and they LAST! A huge plus for me.
I will not go back to this place! I walked in and told the greeter I needed a fill on my acrylic. She said ok and told me to wait. An hour later I still had not been seen and no one had mentioned to me that they would not be able to do my nails. I questioned the greeter and she said she won't be able to do them. I wasted an hour of my life where I could have found another place to do my nails.
I've been a extremely loyal customer for several years. I get mani-pedi ever 2 weeks. I am normally pleased with service. Yesterday morning after pedi i sat longer to make sure feet were dry because i was wearing boots. Nail tech put quick dry on and i still sat for 30 min. She checked said i was dry. I wore flip flops out. I put socks and boots on later and two toes were smudged. I went back at 1030 this morning. Tech at front desk said they were busy and absolutely no one could help me. I asked what time should i come back or i can wait, she replied tomorrow can't you see we're busy, we all have appointments. Needless to say but i was very offended! I've been a loyal customer for over 5 years and didn't appreciate not being appreciated!
In response to the review below. Our salon runs by appointment only, therefore we run and work off our appointment book, if someone is late that causes us to be late for the next appointment and so on. If a client is more than 15 minutes late we have the right to reschedule them in order to give adequate time for the service. Offering to not shampoo or style in order to still receive a service is always offered to the client if time allows to do so if they desire. We strive to please all of our clients and deeply apologize for the mishap.
I'm in my mid-20's and had never had my nails professionally done, until this past Valentine's Day 2015 when I decided to change that and my significant other paid for me to get a full acrylic set as my gift. I chose City Nails based on a friend's suggestion and unfortunately I was incredibly unhappy with my experience.Immediately upon arrival I was told I'd be taken care of in about 10 minutes, only to have another customer waiting pipe up that she was there first. The male employee acknowledged her and apologized but ignored me for the next 20 minutes. Finally he looked at me again and told me about another 10. Eventually he told me which table to go to and an elderly man who spoke very little English met me and proceeded to attempt to turn on the UV lamp at the booth which obviously had a short in the wire. He reached inside and wiggled the wire back and forth all the while mumbling in another language. After a few awkward minutes the lamp popped on.The man then filed down my nails while not once making eye contact until the very end when he looked at me and put his hands up and said "STAY." as if I was a dog.He got up and began cleaning the store while to continuing to mumble without any kind of explanation from anyone as to why I was sitting there. Again, I had never done this before and wasn't sure if I was supposed to have my nails directly under the lamp and felt foolish trying to position myself "correctly" without even knowing what correctly was.After ANOTHER 15 MINUTES, I was close to leaving when the elderly man motioned for me to go to a different table where a different younger male than the one who had greeted me sat. I was already frustrated, but this man's unfriendliness and lack of professionalism was the icing on the cake. The other young man had been chatting away with his customers and even made jokes with me every now and then, but the one doing my nails stayed stone-faced and never cracked a smile.I arrived at the nail salon around 4:30p.m. They closed at 7p.m. that day so I didn't think that was too horribly late of me to show up, yet the man doing my nails constantly looked at the clock above the door. He missed a lot of spots with the acrylic and put more glue on one hand than the other, and those nails came off sooner. The paint job was alright but not great. It was very apparent he was in a hurry. When I tipped him he mumbled a thank you, and when I left and told everyone to have a great night I was completely ignored as they chatted up the people who obviously were their "regulars".I made the mistake of telling the employees of City Nails upon my arrival that I had never had this done and I definitely feel I was taken advantage of because of this. All of the employees spoke in a foreign language to each other and you obviously never knew what was being said. I am not racist but I do not enjoy not being aware of everything going on in the customer area of a business that I am paying for services.I would not recommend this place unless you go with someone who is a regular there as I definitely feel their attitudes and quality of work are biased based upon who you are. I will never return to City Nails.
I recently separated from the military and moved to Rockford and was hoping to find a decent salon. Please take into consideration I am not picky because I have had military hair cuts in the past. To begin with, they are never really available for people who actually work through the day. I have been trying to make a appointment and they are not willing to work around a schedule. As well as not working around schedules, I finally made a appointment with them, however when I arrived they said they could not cut my hair with shampoo and styling. That is so unprofessional. Furthermore when I arrived and requested to have my hair shampooed along with my haircut with style, they told me they couldn't do that because they were about to get off at 6 pm. In addition I called ahead of time and told Kayla I was running late because of the snowy weather, and she said it was fine. However when I arrived there with my daughter they said they couldn't do my hair due to their were about to get off shift. I am so irritated with this salon because that is so unprofessional if you are running a new business there should be more flexibility in your schedule. Furthermore when I arrived Trish said she could cut my hair dry without styling, but when I asked if she could cut and someone else could style, she said there is no way because it was about the money. Moreover, I saw Trish go to talk to Kayla about my appointment and I could see through the mirrors she was cussing about me. Like I said I was in the military as Security Forces Police, therefore I have great depth perception along with attention to detail. They both didn't think I saw them cursing around me through the mirrors that are all over, and my 4year old daughter. I am a veteran and believe I should be treated with more respect especially with my daughter along my side. They were rude and unprofessional. Ultimately I will never go to this salon again. I am new to this area and was just looking for a nice professional atmosphere. I do not recommend this salon at all. Please take my review into consideration to whomever it may concern.
