Most pregnancies are uncomplicated, but if complications arise, Dr. Pagette will do regular testing to assure the health of yourself and your baby. For example, if a pregnancy is complicated by diabetes mellitus, twins, gestational diabetes, hypertension, or preterm labor, or if you have had a previous stillbirth, nonstress tests will be performed in the office on a regular basis. Sometimes one or more biophysical profiles are performed in the office if the pregnancy is complicated and a nonstress test shows that your baby is not reactive. A nonstress test is a monitoring of the baby’s heart beat, like an EKG, which helps to determine the baby’s well being. A biophysical profile is a special ultrasound to assure your baby’s well being.

Gynecology
Mockingbird Ob/Gyn, P.A. was started by Dr. Pagette in 2006, after she moved back from South Carolina, where she had her first practice of 12 and one half years. She moved to her present office in May, 2011 in order to expand the practice. Dr. Pagette is board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She is a fellow of the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
Obstetrics
Our practice is an all female practice, and we are located in a beautiful building with its interior designed and finished out by Dr. Pagette’s husband, Denis. It is in the Cat Hollow area of Round Rock, convenient to Round Rock Medical Center. We practice low and high risk obstetrics, and offer many services within our office. We do not perform abortions. Dr. Pagette makes every effort to attend her patients 24 hours per day. In the event that she cannot be available, she does have a board certified OB/Gyn covering her patients. Dr. Pagette speaks English, Spanish, and some French. Our patients are local, but many are from international origin. We have cared for patients from Spain, China, India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Japan, England, Scotland, Ireland, Germany, Bosnia, Herzegovina, Hungary, Romania, the Czech Republic, Russia, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Puerto Rico, and Mexico. We are pleased to have been serving: Round Rock, Cedar Park, Leander, Pflugerville, Austin, and Taylor.
Pregnancy
Removal of the Fallopian Tube. This is most often performed when removing an ovary, but is sometimes done in the case of a tubal pregnancy (ectopic pregnancy in the fallopian tube) when the ectopic pregnancy is too large. However, new research has discovered that ovarian cancer seems to start in the Fallopian tube. Therefore, most Gynecologists, including Dr. Pagette, are removing the Fallopian tubes at the time of a hysterectomy.
Labor and Delivery
A procedure that renders a woman sterile. This can be done with a small incision in the umbilicus (belly button) either just after a vaginal birth or at another time with the assistance of a laparoscope. It can be done at the time of a cesarean section as well. The fallopian tubes are damaged by either an electrical source laparoscopically or portions of the fallopian tubes are removed, with the cut ends being cauterized. There is a newer technique to occlude the fallopian tubes which can be performed in the office. It is the Essure procedure.

Ovarian Cancer
Cervical Cancer
An annual gynecologic exam is of paramount importance. Our patients often ask when their daughters should have their first examination. The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists recommends that women have their first visit to the gynecologist at age 15. At that time we would not do a Papanicolaou (Pap) smear, but would offer STI screening if the young woman had already had intercourse. Otherwise, that would be a good time to get comfortable with myself as a gynecologist, and I would do a general physical and only an external exam. For women who have had intercourse, it is very important to have a Pap smear on a regular basis after age 21. This is a screening test to look for chronic irritation, precancerous changes, and cervical cancer. The recommendations for how often a woman needs a Pap smear have changed and they depend upon a woman’s risk factors and history of abnormal Pap smears or cervical dysplasia. The presence of the high risk Human Papilloma virus demands more frequent testing and often a colposcopy. A Pap smear is more sophisticated than prior, and now cervical cells are collected, placed in a solution, and a computer makes the slides that will be read by the cytologist/pathologist.

Diabetes Care

Ultrasound
At the first prenatal visit routine blood work, a urine culture, and complete history are obtained, and prenatal vitamin samples are given. At the next, a full physical and routine cultures of the cervix are performed. A Pap smear is sometimes performed at this time. An ultrasound is performed to confirm your due date. After 9 weeks of pregnancy Dr. Pagette will offer genetic testing of the baby, which can now be performed by a blood test. This blood test can look for a high risk of Down’s Syndrome, Trisomies 13 and 18, Turner’s Syndrome, and DiGeorge Syndrome. It is 99% accurate.

Robotic Surgery
Dr. Pagette is a trained and certified robotic surgeon. She is trained on the da Vinci Robotic system. It is a state-of-the-art surgical system designed to help surgeons perform complicated surgeries, which were previously only able to be performed with large abdominal incisions.
Hysterectomy

Plastic Surgeons

Botox
Botox® is made from the botchulinum toxin. It is used for medical and cosmetic purposes. It can temporarily paralyze muscles. Therefore, it can prevent wrinkling on the face, which occurs with smiling and frowning. It generally lasts for 12 weeks. Dr. Pagette does this treatment personally.
Liposuction
Smart Liposuction is a technique used to remove unwanted fat in areas of your body under local anesthetic. One’s BMI ( Body Mass Index (BMI) must be 27 or less. Dr. Pagette performs this with a trained staff using a state of the art Cynosure Smartlipo Triplex™ laser

Lesions
This is a procedure performed for heavy menstrual bleeding. A lighted instrument, called a hysteroscope, is placed along with normal saline into the uterus. The uterine cavity is examined for any lesions. Then an instrument is placed to destroy the endometrial lining. Currently Dr. Pagette uses the NovaSure device. Afterwards the hysteroscope is placed once more and the uterine cavity is examined. The patient can go home the same day with little or no discomfort. The result is very light menstrual bleeding or no more menstrual periods.
