Dr. Michael J. Manley is a board certified in Gastroenterology and joined Rockford Gastroenterology Associates, Ltd. in 2001. He completed medical school at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, and completed his residency in Internal Medicine and a fellowship in Gastroenterology at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, Illinois. Dr. Manley serves as the Director of the RGA Practice Committee which is responsible for reviewing and updating diagnosis and treatment guidelines to help patients receive the most up to date care. Dr. Manley is Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Illinois College of Medicine and a member of the American Gastroenterological Association, the American College of Gastroenterology, and is a fellow of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. Dr. Manley is trained in the broad discipline of gastroenterology and hepatology and has special interests in the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease and colorectal cancer screening and prevention.

Colonoscopy
Asiya was scheduled for a colonoscopy the following month at the hospital to remove the polyp. "The polyp was quite large considering her younger age. The biopsy results revealed high grade dysplasia, a more advanced stage of pre-cancerous cells," shared Dr. Tannous. Dr. Steven O. Ikenberry is clinical assistant professor of medicine at the University of Illinois at Rockford and joined Rockford Gastroenterology Associates, Ltd. in 2000. Dr. Ikenberry graduated from Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine and then completed a residency in Internal Medicine, a fellowship in Gastroenterology, and an advanced training fellowship at Indiana University School of Medicine. He served as Chief Fellow and later remained on Faculty and became Co-Director of the Endoscopic Ultrasound Unit at Indiana University.

Dr. Aaron Shiels joined Rockford Gastroenterology Associates in 2004, and currently serves as Managing Partner. He is a board-certified Gastroenterologist. Dr. Shiels received his medical degree from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis where he also completed his Internal Medicine Residency and Gastroenterology Fellowship. As a Gastroenterology Fellow, Dr. Shiels received specialized training in diseases of the liver, pancreas, and biliary tract, including diagnostic and therapeutic ERCP.
