From its beginning in 1916 as Roanoke Scrap Iron and Metal Company, Cycle Systems helped western Virginia businesses recycle steel, copper, aluminum and paper. It now serves customers across a three-state region. Recycling needs have changed over the years, and so has Cycle Systems. Founder Jacob Brenner made a decision in 1920 to improve customer service by adding its first mechanized equipment two Ford trucks. The company s range of services also expanded when Jacob's son, Udell Brenner, relocated the plant to its current site in 1953.
