Slammers

An old timer once told me, "Cotton Street ain't what it used to be"



Thats pretty true as the industries that once existed here are gone. Along with it are the loss of the factory workers and the tavern on every corner.



Cotton Street is one of Reading's higher crime areas but several neat places still exist here. One of them is Slammers. Don't get me wrong - this isn't ever going to be like some upstate PA neighborhood taproom where everyone really does know your name but Slammers is capable of some really fun times. It also is small and simple enough to hold on to the feeling of an old-fashioned neighborhood bar.



Their St Patrick's Day evening DJ party is a hoot and all types of people come in to enjoy a pretty good DJ and partake in green beer.



Exercise reasonable caution when in this area and your choice to stop at this bar will probably be well worth your time.
