I really like my daughter's doctor and the nurses seem competent. The office staff leaves me cold, and it is impossible to speak to someone when calling.

Reading peda

I love reading pediatrics! I like that I can always talk to someone on the phone before I drive down there cause it's a half hr drive. All the doctors and nurses are pleasant!

Worst Pediatricians ever!!

I have three children, age 7, 8, and 11. We went to Reading Pediatrics for 1 year. Because we have moved twice we have been to other pediatricians. This was, by far, the worst we have ever been to. My children are generally healthy, but my youngest child had a very scary condition where his calf muscles would tighten up and he wasn't able to walk . This happened 4 times within a year, and each time they completely blew us off. After if happened the first time we went to a wonderful rheumatologist at Hershey who treated him for the myositis. They did not refer us to a specialist, but just kind of scratched their heads and hoped it wouldn't happen again. They did not refer him or even suggest anything. Our rheumatologist was shocked by their lackadaisical attitude, Their lack of concern for my child really upset me. Each time we went to an appointment we had to keep explaining the situation to the doctor trerating him because they never bothered to look at the chart or just forgot from one appointment to the next. Not one doctor ever remembered my kids or had any rapport with them. They were usually in and out of the room in under 5 minutes. I really felt that they were not getting evaluated thoroughly, and a few times had to ask them to look at their throats or give them a strep test. They complied if asked, but how scary that they did not feel the need to be more thorough. Aside from all that, there was just a feeling that they don't really care and are in a hurry to get out. There are so many doctors there it is ridiculous. It is very cold and impersonal. The only nice thing I can say about the practice is that all of the nurses I came in contact with were very nice and warm to my children. The office staff was rude and curt. I found it be very inconvenient that every time you call to get an appointment of any kind you have to leave a message and then wait for them to call you back. Sometimes you just want to be able to call and actually get to talk to a human being. From the other reviews I saw it sounds like other people have had the same experience. Oh, and the last thing that made me irate was that it cost me $78 to transfer my children's records. Luckily I don't have more than three children because i'm not sure I would have been able to afford to transfer.

Meh...

Their staff is generally OK, but the doctors are really hit and miss. Some doctors are fantastic, and if you find one you like you should make it a point to stick with them. Other doctors are just awful, they're trying to rush in and out without actually doing anything... so lazy.

They cause my child to be hospitalized

My daughter was a patient from birth to about 8 months of age. At about 6 months she started what the DR. thought was a cold. After a month and multiple visits to the Dr. she had to be hospitalized with RSV, Pneumonia, and and Ear Infection. They refused to thinki it was any thing different than a cold. They would not even listen to her lungs. It was obvious that they we sick of us. So after waking up to a floopy cchild whos breathing was very heavy, we rushed to the hospital and spent a week in the pediatric unit. I found out later that the pneumonia and ear infection cound have been avoided if the physician would have performed a simple test and treated it appropiately with breathing medications. However in there defense, if i need to talk to a nurse, there was always one waiting and if tghere wasnt, you could expect a call back with in the hour. Best of Luck!

Bad Manners and Atmosphere

My children were patients here for almost two years... There was only one doctor there that I liked and trusted... so I continued to go there. I really didn't even like the atmosphere it gave me a dirty feeling... I also had a problem with there billing representative. I had made apyment arrangments which they suggested and agreed upon. I was making the payments but yet, they continued to badger me as if I had not been making them... Than, I recieved a letter telling me that if my bill was not payed in full by a certain date that my children would no longer be considered patients there... Needless to say, I called them to see what was going on and they told me to disregard the notice that they routinely sent it out to everyone that owed a balance... Needless to say, I found it offensive and in bad taste. I transferred my children to wyomissing childrens clinic (located right across the street) and I love the doctors there... In fact, there is only one doctor there that I do not care for... The staff in very nice and attentive.
