Oral Cancer Screening
Oral cancer screenings can help to identify cancer early, when there is a greater chance for a cure. Our team isn’t just concerned with the care of our patients’ teeth, but their overall health as well. Approximately 42,000 Americans are diagnosed with oral and throat cancers annually. When cancer is detected and treated early, the long-term outcome is significantly improved. As a part of our routine patient exam, we will chat with you about your health history and examine specific areas for signs of mouth and/or throat cancer. The screening will consist of a visual inspection of the mouth and palpation of the jaw and neck. Regular visits can improve the chances that any suspicious changes in your oral health will be caught early, at a time when cancer can be treated more easily. Between visits, it’s important to be aware of the following signs and symptoms and notify us or your physician if they do not disappear after two weeks...

Teeth Cleaning
We check the health of your gums at each exam and teeth cleaning appointment. Our hygienist gently examines the gums for any signs of periodontal disease. Prevention and early diagnosis makes treatment easier.
Dental Sealants
Even with exemplary dental habits, it can be a struggle to remove particles and plaque from all the nooks and crannies of the back teeth. Sealants can protect these vulnerable areas from tooth decay by “sealing out” plaque and food.

Fillings
Should you choose to have your amalgam fillings removed, our office utilizes a high-powered evacuation system to remove any excess amalgam from your mouth. We also have an amalgam reclamation system to keep harmful materials from entering the municipal sewer system.
Resin Composite
Fillings are performed to remove decay and replace the affected tooth structure. It is called a “filling” because new material fills the hole after removing the decay. The filling material used in our office is a resin composite material that will match the natural color of your tooth. Caught early enough through regular dental examinations and x-rays, cavities can be treated easily and painlessly.
Veneers
Not everyone is born with a perfect smile. Beautiful teeth can make a huge difference in your appearance and your confidence. If your teeth are discolored, worn down, chipped, broken, misaligned or irregularly shaped, veneers are a great way to create the smile you’ve always wanted.
Crowns
A dental crown renews the shape, comfort, and function of a tooth damaged by deep decay, severe wear, or a fracture. In many dental offices, crowns require multiple of appointments over the period of several weeks. Older methods require that an impression is taken and sent to a lab where your crown is fabricated. In most cases, the impression materials used are messy and uncomfortable for the patient, and the measurements gleaned from this process aren’t always very precise or accurate. Often an ill-fitting, temporary crown is placed while the patient waits for the permanent restoration to be made. At Mint Dental Works we have invested in state of the art CEREC technology, which provides our patients with the convenience of beautiful, durable custom restorations in one visit!
Bridges
For patients with missing teeth that aren’t good candidates for implants, a dental bridge can be an economical, long-lasting solution. A bridge is a good way to protect and restore your bite and help maintain the natural shape of your face.
Dental Bonding

Root Canal Treatment
Root canal treatment (also know as endodontic therapy) is necessary when a cavity has been neglected long enough to affect the pulp of the tooth, requiring the canals which contain the nerve of the tooth to be cleaned out. A root canal may also be needed when a tooth has undergone an extensive restoration that affects the pulp of the tooth, or if the tooth experiences trauma that affects the root. When a root canal is deemed necessary but it is still neglected, it can lead to an abscess and the infection can travel into the surrounding bone and tissue.

Dentures
The implants themselves are tiny titanium posts that are placed into the jawbone where teeth are missing. These metal posts serve as substitutes for the roots of the missing tooth. As you heal, the bone grows around the titanium and becomes integrated, creating a strong foundation for artificial teeth. Implants help prevent the bone deterioration that occurs when teeth are lost. Implants can also be used to anchor removable prosthetics such as dentures and partials.
