Space Maintainers
Fixed space maintainers are the most common type of space maintainer. The term “fixed” means the device is “cemented” (glued) into place with dental cement and is not meant to be removable. Fixed space maintainers include the “band and loop.”

Crowns
A band-and-loop maintainer is made of stainless steel wire. The maintainer is held in place by an orthodontic-type band around a tooth or a crown which is adjacent to the tooth that has been prematurely extracted. A wire loop attached to the band or crown extends into the space and touches the tooth on the other side of the space to hold both teeth in place.

Dr. Gretchen Schnepper has been practicing orthodontics in the Pacific Northwest since 2007. She graduated from and completed an additional 27 month, advanced educational program in orthodontics at Loma Linda University. Orthodontists are uniquely qualified dental specialists who diagnose, prevent and treat dental and facial irregularities to correctly align teeth and jaws. Dr. Gretchen comes from a long line of dental professionals. Both her maternal and paternal grandfathers and her father were dentists and her uncle still practices today. While in dental school she received The American Association of Orthodontists Award, the American Association of Oral Biologists Award and the International College of Dentistry Award.

I’ve had Invisalign over the past 10 months and think highly of Dr. Dugoni’s staff especially. I’ve not waited for longer than 2 minutes in the waiting room or longer than 15 minutes in the chair (that was one time; most other visits were less than 5 minutes). His staff have always been friendly, organized, and professional.
