Many of the people working here are just bored and don't actually care about the animals. This isn't speaking for ALL of the workers, but there are at least three who were totally out of line and had no business being there. I honestly think they are old ladies with nothing better to do and that is why they are there, no other reason.
First of all, if you take your cat there, it will likely be dead in a week. They make no effort to find the animals homes. I offered to foster a cat, and they apparently, "don't do the foster care thing". In other words, they are turning away people who are volunteering their time, home, and money for food and other expenses to help one of the animals.
Where they have such a high rate of euthanizing the animals who wind up there, you'd think that they'd WANT people to foster, for the sake of the animals' well-being.
Finally, to make a long story short I adopted a cat. They told me that if the cat wasn't a good match for our home, we would get a partial refund. Well, the cat wasn't a good match with our dog. We called to see if we could get that partial refund, which really was just going to go toward the adoption of a different cat who would possibly work out better for our home. She proceeded to tell me that that cat would almost definitely be euthanized even though she was microchipped, spayed, and had all of her shots and overall was just a sweet and loving cat - refer back to the part about how they make NO GENUINE EFFORT to find the animals a home.
The ignorant lady on the phone LIED and said that offer was only made assuming that the cat wouldn't be spayed before she went with us. I knew this was a lie because 1. shelter policy is that she couldn't come home with us without being spayed (duh) and 2. it was established that she would be spayed BEFORE she went home with us.
Why the lady decided to lie to us we still don't know. But, a word to the wise, I have been here enough times to know that if you need to rehome an animal, and can't do it yourself, there are better shelters and rescues around here than this one.
I ended up keeping the cat out of fear - I have been given every reason to not trust these people. But, by all means, please adopt from here, they had a lot of amazingly sweet dogs and cats that deserve better than their current circumstances.
Very cold people. It's seems very uncaring when you walk in. It's a hard time, there is absolutely no compassion.
