Dr. Toni Schutte, OD is originally from Vancouver Island, BC.Â Â She joined Neuro-Vision Associates of North Texas in November of 2022. She attended the University of North Dakota for undergrad where she majored in Biology while playing softball.Â Â Following her time in North Dakota, she attended Western University of Health Science for Optometry School. She was an extern at our office during her 4th year of optometry school before graduating in May of 2021 with her Doctorate of Optometry. Following graduation she completed a residency in Ocular Disease with an emphasis in Anterior Segment and Glaucoma in Ohio at the Ohio Eye Alliance. We are so excited to have Dr. Schutte rejoin our practice!

Cataracts

Neuro-optometric rehabilitation therapy is a customized treatment program for patients whose stroke, traumatic brain injury, concussion, neurological condition or disease has resulted in visual deficits. It applies the latest methods and treatments of neuro-plasticity and vision function to help patients develop or regain the essential visual skills necessary for learning and optimal daily function.
Autism
Dr. S, as he is known around the office, has been very active in Neuro-developmental Optometry for most of his years in practice. He has developed and integrated many unique therapies that have helped thousands of children who have struggled in school due to vision problems often seen in: ADD/ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Sensory Processing Disorders as well as some of the classic vision problems related to focusing, eye teaming, eye movement skills, visual-spatial skills, and visual perception issues. He has expanded his work to include those with traumatic and acquired brain injury, stroke, and other neurological processing problems. In addition, he works with several professional sports teams in the Dallas area as well as weekend athletes on developing vision skills. Dr. Shidlofsky is a Clinical Director for the Special Olympics Opening Eyes Program.

Neuro-rehabilitation therapy allows us to retrain your brain and eyes to regain functionality and quality of life for those suffering from visual problems due to vestibular rehabilitation. It works by using a variety of methods and techniques to get both eyes to work as a team and see visual space accurately. This form of therapy, known as neuro-optometric rehabilitation therapy, is an effective treatment for reducing or resolving symptoms associated with vestibular dysfunction.
