Founded in 1988, Hightower Elementary School was named in honor of John Freeman Hightower, who was educator in the Plano Independent School District. It enrolls students in kindergarten through grade five. The school s academic curriculum includes several subjects, such as mathematics, art, social studies, science, music and reading. It offers a range of extracurricular programs, such as student council, safety patrol, nature buddies and conflict resolution training. Hightower Elementary School runs an after-school care program that includes homework assistance and recreational and fine arts activities. In addition, it offers a range of parent involvement opportunities through a parent-teacher association, site-based improvement council and yearbook publishing group. The school also conducts book fairs, family picnics, parenting classes and cultural arts programs. Hightower Elementary School is located in Plano, Texas.
