Wish I could agree with other reviews. Owner was friendly but he was really only interested in gold,, which he just helped himself to my containers. When I asked what he weighed he gave me a odd look. He got some very pricey items, didn't go over any expertise with me cause he didn't want me to know the REAL cost of especially a gold coin. I got there late but he waited on others too, but it certainly shouldn't have cost me in my opinion thousands of dollars . He took a page from a folder & talked very fast,, placed it aside & folded it up. He didn't want me to see ,,then just wasn't interested in the silver EXCEPT for Morgans, Liberty, & Peace dollars. In my quest to get him to a certain amount,, he offered me $10 a piece for these coins for which I tried to put away,, said he'd give me very little for them bug he wanted them very much. I didn't want to get rid of any of these items but I NEED the money to close an estate. He got over on me, took advantage of my situation. Walked away up to 8,000 to $12,000 less. I've can't sleep worrying what going to happen to me. I think his good reviews are for regular, low cost customers. I won't ever go back. I think he's not a,fair person. You didn't have to do that to me that bad.

Best prices and best hours for selling precious metals and gift cards in Pittsburgh. Definitely the place to go

I had an interesting story were I was almost accused of fraud for trying to deposit old money. Even though I was allowed to leave the bank they kept $400 of $20 notes from 1950. I had no knowledge of old notes being an issue so I immediately found an appraiser to assist me. I met Dane and he immediately had no problem taking his time to look over each note and actually took time out to explain some of the history from old money to new money. He was able to talk to me in terms I could understand. He helped me with taking the old bills after appraising them. I would say if anybody is having an issue or needs an expert in money, Dane is definitely the man to see. Dane thanks again for taking your time out of your day to help me.Just for people to know his knowledge helped me to get my other bills back to me, but lessoned learn do not take old money to bank!!
Bad Business Ethics!!!!!!!!!If you don't spend at least $1000 at this store, You will NOT be tolerated for long. It's sad that some businesses operate that way, Unfortunately this one Included! One thing I have learned is that when running a business, you treat ALL customers well, Not just the wealthy ones.
Banner Coin Exchange is a true gem of Pittsburgh and a must stop if you want to get a taste of the old-time Burg. The shop is totally retro: a hard to find little nook on 4th Avenue. It evokes images of Ollivander's Wand Shop in Diagon Alley. It is stuffed and piled with dusty boxes and coins, knick-knacks and yellowed photos. Piles and piles of fond memories and broken dreams. And Eddie knows every bit of it. There is no pretense. No BS. Just fair deals and fair trades. Eddie is just good at what at he does and he knows it. Buy or sell - you will get fair trade. Not only is Eddie LGBT friendly - he is EVERYONE friendly. He is always honest, quick and knows exactly what a fair price is. I only wish I could give more than five stars for this review.
i had some silver dollars that were left to me by my father. I went to several cash for gold buyers and was offered $12-$15 each for them. I went to Sq. Hill and the South Hills, same....then I went to see Eddie at Banner Coin downtown and three of them were worth $200 each....that is what I expect ....total honesty and not taking a shot at me. ...no wonder they have been there for decades....thankyou eddie, we are all hurting and need the real deal.
Banner Coin Exchange is an excellent choice when searching for information about gold and jewelry. We had stumbled into Eddie's shop with no idea what we were doing to exchange or sell old engagement rings. While Eddie did not deal with diamonds, he was kind enough to teach us what we needed to know. He knew where we needed to go and helped us find exactly what we needed. Eddie is a dream to work with and was honest and straight forward. I recommend Banner Coin Exchange for anyone looking to get rid of old jewlery or coins. If Eddie cannot make an exchange with you, he will do everything he can to make sure you get what you are looking for. Thanks Eddie!
Dane is a very honest businessman. If you have coins to sell, he will offer top dollar for whatever you have to sell. He is a pleasure to deal with and an asset to the numismatic community.
Dane is a pleasure to work with. He is very honest and pays fair prices. He is very knowledgeable and takes time to explain each coin you are buying or selling. If you are new to the hobby, he will take the time to teach you.
I had a very large collection of coins to sell that were my father's. I called a few dealers and they gave me offers that were almost insulting, and without even really looking at the coins. Dane Olevian, however, came to my home and went over each coin one by one, explaining what I had, and in the end he offered me more than twice than the other people I called. I feel very comfortable working with this dealer and would recommend him to anyone.
