Ymca

The YMCA in Pittsboro appears to be on decline. Due to lack of support from the larger ymca organization they have had to cut back on hours and are even closed of Saturdays. The other problem is memberships are not cheap as one is basically supporting after school programs rather than paying for a facility with a certain size and equipment and operating hours. It is truly hard to imagine that some major cities in North Carolina my have several Y facilities 7 times the size of this Y. Why the Pittsboro YMCA has to be the worst YMCA in North Carolina raises some interesting questions and why there are no longer Sunday hours suggest the YMCA in Pittsboro is dying and clearly on the decline. One at this point might logically conclude one can get a better deal joining another health club as the YMCA here despite it's cut in hours is still expecting the same monthly fees from it's members.

Smallest YMCA in North Carolina. Nice staff and clean but facility is pretty much given over to aerobic tredmills and elliptical trainers and a few machines. The weight room is extremly tiny and made worse as it is treated like a storage room for the Yoga crowd who leave their yoga mats and balls in the area or come there to stretch and meditate often making lifting difficult if not impossible. No pool and co courts in this YMCA. Facility has a small changing area with bathroom and showers but unfortunately the mesn area is frequented from outsiders who use it as a public bathroom.
