I went to my first town council meeting last night. There was some misunderstanding that Pineville was targeting pit-bulls breed and the hall was packed. This however was not the case. Our council was letting the residents of Pineville know that we had an individual who was not a responsible dog owner who happen to have 2 pit-bulls running lose or tied up in the yard. The dogs where getting lose and causing a dangers problem for the people of Pineville as well as for the dogs themselves . The council, which I have to say did a wonderful job in calming the fear of Pit-bull groups and owners. I would have like to offer my solution to the council, but it was my own ignorance for not knowing that you had to be on a list to speak and I understand this because if they didn't have this rule it would be very chaotic and nothing would get done. I do believe that we need laws to protect our first responder's and the citizens of Pineville. It a shame that the people and the dogs have to be the ones to suffer because of irresponsible people who think that chaining any animal in a yard is ok. It's not!! If you need two pit-bulls tied up in your yard, their more then just a dog issue going on here, In my opinion. I support what ever safety measures that our town has to do in order to protect her citizen and the all animals from uneducated animal owners.
