Many people begin their experience at the five-story, 240-exam room outpatient clinic on the Scottsdale campus. It offers outpatient surgery, laboratory, diagnostic testing, imaging and pharmacy services, a patient education library and multilevel underground parking. The Mayo Clinic Specialty Building is an outpatient clinic building connected to the northeast corner of Mayo Clinic Hospital on the Phoenix campus. It houses a variety of outpatient specialty services. Mayo Clinic Specialty Building is the first step in Mayo Clinic Arizona's plan to integrate and consolidate patient care on the Phoenix campus, and to create a collaborative biomedical research community on the Scottsdale campus. Mayo Clinic Hospital, located on the Phoenix campus, has 244 licensed beds with 18 operating rooms, an urgent care/emergency room, a transplant center and a full-service clinical laboratory. It also offers diagnostic imaging and noninvasive heart tests, and lung testing services. Mayo Clinic Hospital opened in the fall of 1998 and is the first hospital designed and built by Mayo Clinic.
