The Philadelphia City Planning Commission is responsible for guiding the growth and development of the city of Philadelphia. The commission prepares the regulations concerning the subdivisions of land. Its duties include the preparation of plans, capital programs and budgets, and proposed zoning ordinances and amendments. The Philadelphia City Planning Commission s development planning division is responsible for reviewing plans for new development. Its community planning division reviews development proposals, as well as provides technical assistance to citizens and community groups on planning issues. The commission also prepares urban design plans for districts, neighborhoods, streetscapes and several spaces. It operates geographic information system and strategic planning and policy divisions.
