J. Alexander s, an upscale, casual dining restaurant, does not rely on gimmicks to make up for quality food and professional service. It offers a classic American menu that features hardwood-grilled steaks, baby-back ribs, salmon, fresh seafood selections, soups, entr e salads, burgers and sandwiches. The first J. Alexander s restaurant opened in Nashville, Tenn., in 1991. With more than 25 restaurants in 12 states, including one in Norcross, Ga., the company plans to expand nationally. It generally seeks sites in upscale areas in markets that have more than 1.5 million people. J. Alexander s is a publicly owned corporation that trades on the American Stock Exchange.
