I love Maustells and the people are nice
Me and a buddy came to get a pizza for take out. It took them over 45 min to get it. There is no reason for it to take this long the place wasn't even that busy. On top of that they have two ovens. Never coming back again.
We came here because we read that this is "the best pizza in central IL".Whoever wrote THAT review has either not been to very many places, or is rather biased. The staff was nice. They made recommendations based on their own preferences, and they also told us what was popular. Had NO problem with them what so ever. The breadsticks were very good. The salad bar was standard (good, with exceptional pudding choices). Decor was standard, crowd was ok, not busy, not dead.None of those things garner two stars. The reason I give two stars is because I did not like the pizza. If you wonder why I did not like the pizza, I am happy to explain (note that this is MY personal preference for taste in pizza).Starting with the crust. We had the thin crust. To me, it was too thin. It was sort of like having pizza on unsalted crackers with flour on the bottom. The sauce was unsavory. It tasted very tomatoey. If that is the flavor you like, then you will like this sauce. I did not taste oregano, or actually ANY spices. We got cheese pizza, so no other toppings. However, the amount of cheese was insufficient for my taste. So, I have given a review based on my taste in pizza. I am sure there are many who like this pizza, but it was not for me.
