Dental Examination
A comprehensive examination is a detailed examination and thorough assessment intended to establish and record a baseline of oral health for a new or existing patient. X-rays
Whether you’re in need of a single tooth repair with an inlay or onlay or you’re hoping to completely restore more extensive damage, our Orange dentists Dr. Christopher J. Fotinos and Dr. Randy A. Rosales can work with you to determine the right course of treatment to help you get the smile of your dreams. We’ll examine your mouth and take dental x-rays if necessary to determine the level of tooth decay and other damage that might be present. We’ll then talk with you about all of your treatment options to customize a smile restoration plan for you.
Oral Cancer Screening
During a teeth cleaning appointment, Dr Fotinos or Dr Rosales evaluates the patient’s teeth, gums and bone, looking for any signs of concern such as tooth damage, cavities, gum swelling, infection or discoloration. The dentist will also perform a simple oral cancer screening by palpating soft tissues around the neck and intraorally under the tongue and floor of the mouth. Your dental examination is also an excellent opportunity to discuss any symptoms, oral health concerns or cosmetic questions you have with the dentist.

Teeth Cleaning
To maintain optimal oral health and prevent the accumulation of harmful bacteria, healthy adults and children should have a professional dental cleaning every six months. Patients with additional health concerns, such as diagnosed periodontal disease, might need to visit the dentist for more frequent gum tissue therapy appointments( every 3 to 4 months) to keep plaque, tartar, and bacteria in check in areas of the mouth which they no longer have access to due to bone loss.

Fillings
Experiencing a single toothache or living with one amalgam filling can affect a person’s wellbeing. So, it shouldn’t be surprising that suffering from constant oral pain, extensive damage or significant aesthetic concerns will have a major impact on everyday life. While some patients can address their concerns with one or two minor treatments, others require a more comprehensive treatment plan that will revitalize their smile and relieve pain with a full mouth reconstruction.
Resin Composite
The cavity treatment procedure begins by comfortably numbing the patient’s surrounding tissues and using various techniques to remove the decayed portion of the tooth. The remaining tooth structure is then cleaned, disinfected, dried, desensitized and filled with a tooth-colored composite resin. The resin is then smoothed and shaped to achieve a natural bite and feel. Finally, the resin is cured and hardened with a special light and a final polish is preformed.
Veneers
Porcelain veneers are thin, shell-like porcelain structures that are designed to cover cosmetic imperfections and discolorations on the surface of patient’s teeth, while leaving the underlying tooth intact. They are as thin as a piece of a broken light bulb and are permanently bonded to the tooth surface increasing its strength and becoming an integral part of it.
Crowns
Like a hybrid of fillings and crowns, inlays and onlays are a conservative type of tooth restoration that repairs, fortifies, and protects a patient’s natural teeth. Made of durable porcelain, these custom-designed dental restorations are colored to match the surrounding teeth and permanently bonded to the natural tooth. They are used to repair moderately damaged teeth that don’t have severe problems to justify a crown, yet have too much damage to be adequately repaired with a standard filling.
Bridges
Living with missing teeth not only makes it difficult to eat, drink, and speak normally, but can also change the way you look and diminish your confidence. If you’re missing one or more adjacent teeth, the simplest option for restoring your smile might be a dental bridge.
Dental Bonding
With proper care, dental bonding and tooth-colored fillings last about 15 years before they need to be refinished. Chewing on hard objects, grinding teeth at night or having missing adjacent teeth, put extra wear and tear on dental bonds and will shorten their lifespan.

Root Canal Treatment
A root canal is a procedure during which Dr Rosales or Dr Fotinos will completely remove the living and dead tissue from inside a compromised tooth. The tooth is then sterilized by cleaning out any bacteria or decay that’s present. After the tooth is sterile, it is then filled with a dental material and sealed.

Gingivectomy and Gingivoplasty
Also referred to as gum contouring and gingival sculpting, gingivectomy and gingivoplasty are sometimes used interchangeably, as they’re often both performed during a single operation. The two procedures, however, are slightly different.
Deep Cleaning

Dentures
Conventional partial and complete dentures — these rely on the contours of adjacent teeth for support (for partial dentures) or the contours of bone and tissue (for complete dentures). These are a good short-term option, but long-term these may lead to mobility, poor fit, difficulty with basic functions, such as chewing and speaking.
Overdentures
Implant Overdentures (removable) — This option is ideal for patients who want a dramatically improved denture retention by implants and prefer a removable denture. Cost is about 2-4 times that of a conventional denture. However, studies show that patients who choose implant overdentures (all on 4) instead of conventional dentures report the money was very well spent and the result greatly exceeded their expectations.
