About as close to Thai food as Butte, Montana is similar to Bangkok.

Had lunch here today with a friend and this is the bottom of the wrung in the country, I am convinced, of absolute insults to The Kingdom of Thailand's wonderful and very unique quisine. I have never walked out of a restaurant, but today would have have been the day. Don't get me wrong; it is a very cute place, clean, great service and help, and presentation was great. But what I was served was as much Thai as Nutela is on a piece of white bread. I have travelled several times to Thailand, and have eaten in over a dozen wonderful Thai restaurants here in Puget Sound, from Seattle to Auburn, Federal Way, downtown Tacoma and vacinity and Lacey, but this deserves the "penmanship" of warning to those of you in search for Thai food! I ordered Pad Sieu today at lunch (arrived there around 12:30) and what I received were undercooked fat rice noodles (not the proper noodle for Pad Sieu but 75% of restaurants use this), beef, broccoli and green onion cooked in sweet soy sauce. That is it. Again, this had all the Thai flavor as a Peanut Butter & Jelly sandwich. My friend ordered the national dish, Pad Thai... and he commented that this was in no way, Pad Thai. It looked divine on the plate, the presentation; it was simply a poor attempt. I ordered "2 spice" and got "no spice." Same with the Pad Thai. My opening comment to the waitress was, "so your cook is not Thai." And I was correct. Please, if you want to go to a restaurant for food, and are hungry, and really don't care what you eat, then this place is really nice. Conveniently located right there across from Target in the Capital Mall shopping metropolis, it is "good filler material" for an empty stomach after a day's prancing around the stores. But if you are going there for Thai food, I'm afraid that you are going to be sadly, sadly discontent. I can tell you that never again will I ever step foot in this insulting restaurant... as I think that is is quite crappy of them to offer something as 'authentic Thai food" when it is far, far from it. Shame on them. And shame on those who patron this place; my guess, is that they may have never eaten at any other Thai restaurant. Sawadee krap.

Not what it use to be

This is definately not the Thai Garden that use to be at Capital Mall. Service is horrible! The staff is not very attentive to your needs. If you order extra rice, instead of getting it for you, they make the point of telling you that it is going to cost you extra! You have to flag them to get refil on your drinks or even extra napkins. Food is not that great either if you compare it to the original thai garden or even any other thai place. Would not go back there again or recommend it to anyone.

Long Wait

In wishing to place a to go order, I waited ten minutes before being acknowledged. I am heavily pregnant and probably looked tired. It seemed many people eating were waiting for things, and were flagging down staff to help them. After walking away from me and the 5 people waiting behind me, who came in a while after I had, the server began to seat the people behind me instead of taking my order. I politely said I had been waiting a while and would like to place my to go order. She rolled her eyes at me and said, "A to go order will be at least forty minutes". I realize I should have called in my order, the wait time was not the point. Her terrible manners were what made me say, "Nevermind". I left, dissapointed. It would have been my first visit to the new restaurant. I'd always enjoyed it before. I doubt I'll be back. Angel's Thai is very good and not that far away, though you can sometimes wait a little while there, they are always polite.
