The safety of children is at the forefront of the design and construction of residential swimming pools. A swimming pool is a wonderful addition to your home, but it is of supreme importance to ensure the safety of those you love by installing an aluminum pool fence around it. Most pool codes require that a pool fence should be at least 48” tall in order to comply with your local building codes, as well as any homeowner’s association regulations. All pool code gates also need to have self-closing hinges with a magnetic closing latch. These gates close and lock automatically to protect children from accidental or unauthorized entry into your pool area. Our two primary fences are a 48” tall, 2-rail fence and a 54” 3-rail fence, each with solid tops and bottoms, meaning no extended or “spear-type” pickets (see photos).
Driveways
Whether you are replacing a driveway or sidewalk, building a new outdoor entertainment area, or putting the finishing touches surrounding your new pool, stamped concrete is a cost-effective and long-lasting substitute for other hardscape materials such as brick pavers, cobblestones, or real stone. With several patterns and over 75 different colors to choose from, stamped concrete has become most homeowners’ preferred choice. You can stamp a border or your entire project to give your job a unique and customized look. We also provide regular, broom-finished concrete for a suitable and cost-saving alternative.
Excavation
Since excavation is necessary before installation, these pools will fall into a higher price range than above-ground pools. But with that higher, yet affordable price point you can customize your pool with many options, including new liner patterns and colors, as well as additional features, like waterfalls, lighting, and even spas.
Snow Removal
Burke Construction has been performing commercial snow removal and treatment services in the greater Saint Louis area for more than 25 years under the trade name SNOW PRO. With our comprehensive in-house training, and seasoned plow and salt truck drivers, we provide a level of service that is second to none. When a winter storm is predicted, we talk to each of our clients to agree on a plan of attack based on probable outcomes and then monitor each storm with both radar and on-the-ground personnel to ensure that each property is serviced in accordance with our contract. We make sure each location is free of snow and ice as quickly as possible, thereby mitigating the potential liability that comes with these types of events. We also make sure each driver is familiar with your particular reporting criteria, whether a mobile app or another mechanism, enabling “real-time” reporting of both conditions and services before, during, and after the storm.
Retaining Walls
A retaining wall is a built structure to retain the lateral pressure of soils. These walls can be built using different types of materials, such as Versa-Lok blocks, boulders, and Redi-Rock blocks. The most common retaining walls we construct are made of concrete (Versa-Lok) blocks, which come in standard natural (grey) or various tan colors. The biggest value of a retaining wall is that it acts as a natural drainage system; water does not accumulate behind these walls – it simply seeps through. As a result, the danger of the wall getting damaged due to water or other weather conditions is minimal. Another advantage is that wall’s footing does not need to be sunk beneath the frost line.
