This place was perfect for me. Easy going staff and a good environment. My riding improved and I highly recommend. I see the complainers out there and they are wrong. Remember you can't please everybody. If you have something negative to say, keep it to yourself. This is a barn. This place is good and it's fun too.

Wished I had better things to say, but...

Visited the farm before making a commitment to start riding lessons. While the grounds are large and there's ample room for the horses to graze in paddocks, the barn and arena are run down. There was trash around the barn and a generally unsightly appearance. Cigarette butts were in a container right outside the barn door, and someone was smoking in a barn doorway. At a horse farm, this behavior is unacceptable. I wish I had better things to say about Windkist as the people I spoke with over the phone were personable and were open to scheduling lesson times; however, smoking on a barn premises should not be tolerated.

Since windkist has had a change in management, the place has only continuously improved. Horses are better cared for, their lesson program has more structure / organization, and the over all atmosphere is friendly and welcoming. They have a working student program that allows some of the students to work by helping instructors with lessons and afternoon chores for practice rides on top of their already scheduled lessons. They are extremely flexible with their lesson scheduling and have a great make up policy for missed lessons. They have been reaching out to other businesses/services and having clinics based out of Windkist that give students and staff even a great learning opportunity. These positive changes only continue with the start of a show team, bringing in new horses, and working together as a team

Wonderful

I have been working at Windkist as a working student for a little over 2years and I love it! The people are great. They are under new management and I was there for the old and the new. We are really working to get this barn to its full potential. This is the best barn I have been too. I highly recommend this barn to anyone of any level of riding. There are many times available to schedule a lesson. There are many horses for all levels of riding and they also have horses for sale. They are working on getting in new horses to train. They have an indoor and outdoor ring. Also a mini XC course. And access to miles of trails through Harold Parker state forest.

Spectacular

Windkist equestrian centre has recently gone under new management and it has really improved on its look, horses, and much more. One of the many things that has changed in the last few months is that windkist now offers a show team which practices every Friday night and is planning on attending several different shows in the state of Massachusetts and other states like New Hampshire. They are now going to be hosting clinics including Dom schramm on November 22nd and 23rd 2014. Windkist is a spectacular place for beginners and even advance riders. I definetly recommend checking them out if your in the area!

I came to Windkist after riding for almost a year under the same trainer at the other barns she worked at. Now that she has decided to work just for Windkist, I ride there. I think this is the best barn out of the others I have ridden at. They are now under new management, and I love everyone there. They are very welcoming and flexible. I am also now a working student and I love it. There is no drama at the barn and they keep the fun in horseback riding. They of course take training seriously, but they make it fun, and they also hold fun, internal shows like the Halloween Fun Show they held in October this year. I definitely recommend Windkist if you want a fun barn with amazing people.

Overall

I came to Windkist after a 16 year riding career, looking for a place that would support my ability to ride while I began my first job. The trainers at Windkist are very open to tailoring programs to fit specific needs, and have been very helpful to me as I try to figure out my complex schedule. The working students are enthusiastic and happy. Experienced riders may have difficulty joining group lessons with others at their level, but I have been catered to very well. I feel that I am getting exactly what I wanted from a barn. I am having fun, meeting people, riding, and continuing to learn. If you want a relaxed barn atmosphere with no cat fights or nasty competitive spirit, this is the place for you! It is a little small, but that helps keep everyone there grounded and close. The trails are beautiful, and the small XC course is an added bonus! They're trying to expand their numbers of horses, and while there are many old school horses great for kids and some young green horses that are fun projects for an advanced rider, there isn't much in between. That should be changing soon though!

Eh

This barn is not for anyone for has been riding for awhile and just wants a relaxed place to ride. I began riding there at its summer camp program and i've loved riding ever since. Tish, the owner, has many school horses suited to any or all riding types. Some of her horses do become sour and mean because they are used so much. If you are looking for a place for your very easy keeper who you trail ride, then this place may work for you. It is in Harold Parker and has great access to all the trails throughout there. However, if you're looking for a barn where you can compete and ride and learn more, than this place is not for you. Unfortunately there are no barns in this area which will allow you to do this, and i've been to many if not all barns in the area, including here, sunnybrooke (now called flying high), Brittabee and many others.

Hello. Thank you for all of the nice things you had to say about Windkist. I just wanted to let you know that one of Windkist's instructors is also a licensed horse show judge and specializes in eventing and just bought a new horse that he boards at Windkist. Also, one of our instructors is a very active jockey. Both have been teaching here for over ten years! Also, Windkist has a show schedule every year of both rated and non-rated shows to attend and the fees are VERY reasonable. I'm not sure if everyone realizes this. Just thought I'd let you know! Thanks! - Cat
