Dr. Dominick Giuffrida attended medical school at Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine, where he also completed a Research Fellowship in Pharmacology, and graduated in 1990. He completed his residency for Obstetrics and Gynecology training at Suburban General Hospital (now Mercy Suburban Hospital), in 1995 and served a Ob/Gyn Residency Program Director for eight years. He is board certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Giuffrida joined Dr. Sansone to establish East Norriton Women’s Health Care in 1997.

Cervical Cancer
Ervical dysplasia is a term used to describe the appearance of abnormal cells on the surface of the cervix, the lowest part of the uterus. These changes in cervical tissue are classified as mild, moderate, or severe. While dysplasia itself does not cause health problems, it is considered to be a precancerous condition. Left untreated, dysplasia sometimes progresses to an early form of cancer known as cervical carcinoma in situ, and eventually to invasive cervical cancer.

Minimally Invasive Surgery
In addition to his office practice, Dr. Giuffrida is specialty trained in Advanced Robotic Gynecologic Minimally Invasive Surgery, including No Scar Single Incision robotic surgeries. He initiated the gynecologic robotic program at Phoenixville Hospital and served as the Director of Gynecologic Robotic Surgery. He also serves on the Robotics Committee for Einstein Medical Center Montgomery. Dr Giuffrida is a surgical proctor for Intuitive surgical, the makers of the DaVinci robot and has proctored many gynecologic surgeons in our area. He has extensive experience with the da vinci robot and has performed over 700 Robotic surgeries.
Robotic Surgery
Dr. Giuffrida is a leader in Robotic Surgery. He is the only da Vinci Single Site Surgeon in Montgomery County and One of Only Three in the Philadelphia Area.
Hysterectomy
Surgical treatment for uterine tumors most often involves the surgeon removing the entire uterus via hysterectomy. While hysterectomy is a proven way to resolve fibroids, it may not be the best treatment for every woman.
Endometrial Ablation
Laparoscopy
With the da Vinci System, surgeons operate through one small incision in the belly button or through a few small incisions instead of a large open incision (similar to traditional laparoscopy).

We are happy to provide women an option to traditional surgeries utilizing the robotic system. Robotic laparoscopic surgery allows women to have operative procedures performed with the most minimally invasive technologies.

Lesions
Cervical dysplasia does not cause symptoms; therefore, regular screening and early diagnosis are important. Detecting and treating dysplasia early is essential to prevent cancer. For this reason, most physicians quickly remove suspicious cervical lesions and require frequent Pap smears to monitor for recurrences.
