Overall

On 3 separate occasions we have crunched down on a metal bristle from a scrub brush in our food. It has been a miracle we have not swallowed it (once was a child) or have not chipped a tooth. Two times in the fried rice, and once in the wok fried noodles. We called to let them know, the first time they casually said "it happens because we scrub our wok with a steel bristle brush." they gave us a free rice for our next visit so we let it go. The second time, several months later they said the same thing but were more apologetic and gave us a free rice. The third time we called and they basically said we were liars and said there is no record of it ever happening to us because there are new owners. THREE TIMES. No sorry.... nothing! Great way to treat your customers. We will be reporting to the health department and will be warning others in our area of this health hazard! We will not make the same mistake again.

I live in Kimberling City and have always wanted to try the 5 Spice in Springfield...so when I went to Nixa and saw there was a 5 Spice there I was excited to go! Im really surprised with the bad reviews I am reading online because that was not my experience at all.....I am a waitress so by nature I feel like "we" scrutinize resturants more so than others......I loved it....the atmosphere was chill and inviting...as soon as we walked in with our 4 kids the host was welcoming and immediatly starting getting a table together to accomidate our group! Our waiter was Mason...he was young and very polite, he did a great job...and the Crab Ragoon was out of site..it was really fantastic.....my favorite C. Ragoon is from korean garden in willard...and this was definetly comparable...the service and presentation of the food definetly outweighs the price...cost is about 7-9 per person...I wish I would have taken pics because it was great - the food is really good......Now the only negative was my daughter didnt like her sesame chicken....which she was sharing with her sister...I let mason know and he quickly replaced it with a different choice of her liking and the manager came out to make sure that everything was perfect...I dont remember the managers name ....young cute guy...but he was really nice and professional...I would say they are doing an awesome job and dont believe the bad reviews...maybe a couple bad experiences but I would say at least try it you wont be disapointed!!!!

Horrible

My husband was already not trusting of Missouri Chinese food, since we're used to California Chinese food, but I'm trying to convince him that there is good food in this area. One of our favorite Chinese dishes is honey walnut shrimp, and the only place with something somewhat similar on the menu was 5 Spice. What we didn't know was that the Nixa location has a completely different menu according to the waitress and that dish wasn't on there. You don't get noodles with your dish, which is just weird to me, and a noodle dish would have been a whole separate meal. My husband and I both ordered different shrimp dishes. I have never had "Chinese" food this horrible. Mine was bad, but I took a bite if my husband's shrimp dish and it didn't even taste like shrimp. The bill was $30 and the waitress knew that we didn't like the food. We basically left his full plate, and mine partially eaten (only because I didn't want to waste money). We paid $30 plus tip for nothing but our beverages and a few bites of gross food. She apologized that we didn't like it and brought us our bill. She was nice, but normally a restaurant would just take the plate back and not charge, or at least give a discount, even in greedy California.



I've never complained at a restaurant before and we were as nice as we could be when she asked us how our food was, but we told her we didn't really care for it. I was hoping he could get some good Chinese food before he deploys, but I think he had the worst Chinese food he's ever had instead. I doubt I will ever be able to talk him into eating Chinese food anywhere in Missouri again. After we got into our car, he actually went back in to use their restroom and got sick. I wish I told my dad that we were going to eat there, because he would gave stopped us. He ate there once also, and said it was horrible. NEVER AGAIN.

Rude

Called in an order. One with fried rice and one with steamed. The girl on the phone asked if I wanted a small or large order. I said large. When we got home with the food we had received a small order And both with fried rice. Called up there to see if we could get a larger order, which we had originally asked for. the girl on the phone was very rude. She proceeded to tell me that what I got was what I ordered. I told her that we received tiny containers of rice. She said that that size is the only size they have. Then I asked about the steamed rice, her response was "oh well she didn't put that order in." No apology. The food was cold, texture was like it had been sitting out for a long time. (We order and picked up within 10mins). Overall, poor food quality and quantity for the price and the workers are just rude. Will not go back again. I would rather drive to Springfield for that 5 spice.

Overall

Terrible management. I attempted to go thru drive thru. After ordering, I sat in my car for half an hour with five other cars. Finally I decided to go in an see what was going on with the delay. There were three people sitting at a table, so it was not busy. But 12 employees were standing around talking. I asked why the delay and they just ignored me. The manager was quick to take my payment, and after waiting another ten minutes handed me my food. I asked again why the delay and he said 'that's just the way it is here'. I replied with 'this is the last time you will have my business' and his response was 'whatever' and walked off. No apology, no reason. Manager is thin bald man with glasses. Very rude. I'll never go back. Cashew In and Cashew Out that is a block down is better and more friendly.

I love the fact that 5 Spices ...

I love the fact that 5 Spices has added a location in Nixa. The menu is different but the food is very good. Everything I had from the eggrolls and soup ( Hot and Sour ) to the main course (General Tao Chicken - in my case) was delicious. I liked the modern, clean and trendy decor ,although it is not as upscale as their location on Glenstone. Also I found the service - VERY GOOD. I disagree with the individual who left the poor rating- perhaps that person was having an off day! I particularly liked their menu and I will be going back with friends and family! I hope everyone will give this location a try!

I have eaten here several time...

I have eaten here several times. I have always eaten inside. The service has never been great. It has been ok but nothing to make it stand out. The food was again good but nothing that makes it stand out. The facilities are clean, which is why I continued to eat there regularly. Today I went through the drive through. I ordered the same meal. They did not give me my egg drop soup, so I asked the girl at the window and she said that you don't get it through the drive though. I said but the price is the same, I want my soup or a discount. She laughed a little and I just kept looking at her and she sobered up and asked if I wanted to speak to the manager. I said yes if you aren't going to give me my soup. The manager did nothing to appease the customer. I didn't get my soup, he gave me an excuse that the owners look at the soup as bread in other restaurants. So basically the management has no power or authority to make sure that customers are happy when reasonable requests are made. The managers here are obviously not given this authority. I won't be back. If a simple reasonable request cannot be fulfilled by management at an establishment with average service and average food, then why not go to another establishment that has average service and average food that will.
