Eyelid Surgery
There are many techniques for eyelid surgery, and the procedure is customized to the individual. In general, these techniques involve the removal or tightening of the skin, fat, and muscle of the eyelids. A common reason to get upper eyelid surgery is excess or sagging skin that can cover the edge of the eyelid, touch the eyelashes, impair vision, or interfere with makeup application. Common reasons to get lower eyelid surgery include puffiness, eyebags, and dark undereye circles. Wrinkling and fine lines can affect both the upper and lower eyelids.
Liposuction
At my practice, a tummy tuck is an outpatient procedure that usually takes two to three hours. I include a free liposuction of the flanks with all tummy tucks, which further improves the appearance of the abdominal region. Patients go home the same day. Recovery time depends upon the patient’s overall health before the procedure. For all tummy tucks, I use a long-acting, numbing pain medication, EXPAREL, or an on-Q pain pump. This significantly improves postoperative pain control—we are one of the few practices that use this exclusively. I want my patients to walk around the same day of the surgery, and most patients are back to doing light exercise after three weeks. The main limitation is a restriction on heavy lifting for approximately two months after the procedure. I work very closely with lymphatic massage therapists to address postoperative swelling and improve contour of the abdomen after surgery.
