Wound Care
When you are discharged from the hospital you will receive detailed information about wound care, medications including pain medicines and physical therapy including exercises you will do on your own on days the physical therapist does not visit. We also include information on other frequently asked questions concerning your follow-up care after discharge.
Joint Replacement
You’ll recover in our surgery suite until you are awake from the anesthesia and your vital signs are good. Our Care Team members will then move you to our Joint Replacement Center where you will stay until you are discharged.
Orthopedic Surgery
Hip Replacement
When possible the anterior approach is my preferred option for a total hip replacement. The surgery is done from in front of the hip rather than in the side or back, like in traditional hip replacements. This surgery may also be called mini, modified, minimally invasive, or muscle-sparing surgeries.
Knee Replacement
Partial knee replacement is available for patients when only one compartment of the knee is damaged typically from arthritis. Arthritis in the knee joint occurs as a result of degeneration of the cartilage in your knee commonly referred to as “wear and tear” arthritis or degenerative arthritis. This means there is no cushion between the knee joints which now are bone on bone with the nerve endings on the bones causing your pain.

As a founding partner of Henry County Center for Orthopedic Surgery & Sports Medicine, Dr. Rolston has practiced in New Castle at Henry Community Health since 1994. With 25 years of experience he has performed approximately 5000 hip and knee replacements.
Physical Therapy
Follow-up physical therapy usually is needed after you leave the hospital. Initially this will be done in your home or a rehabilitation facility if you choose go to there then possibly followed by outpatient physical therapy.
