More and more of today’s new construction guidelines and building specifications are requiring the design and application of high-tech air barrier systems to protect the integrity of the structure and the health of its occupants while helping to lower energy costs.
Demolition
A comprehensive analysis of the existing buildings wall structure/shell needs to be completed prior to any repair procedures being performed. Due to the age of many historic structures original building drawings have been lost or damaged making it very difficult to determine the original wall detail construction; especially as it relates to back-up masonry, anchorage, steel support, thru-wall flashing, etc. Selective demolition should be performed in order to verify the original construction, level of deterioration and to help assist the restoration process moving forward. Historic and compatible building materials must be used. Lastly, be sure to engage an experienced, qualified contractor employing highly skilled craftsman such as Superior Waterproofing and Restoration Co.
