I was somewhat pleased with the psychiatric care. I did have issues with therapy. I am certainly glad that the inpatient unit was willing to take me in despite being kicked out. I did have issues with the mental health care treatment. I learned that for me it was not okay to stand up for myself, to have my independence, to be in control of my own treatment. If you are told that something is going to happen in counciling then you best do it or you will be discharged and they do not make referals for you. That becomes your responsiblity to find further help. I also found out that the access center did not like it when I asked for help to keep myself safe from harm. I received dirty looks and attitudes and the cops came and got a bit hasty with me and handcuffed me.It would have been wiser to call the E.R. at Ball Memorial for help if suicidal. There is also a suicide hotline I could have called and there is also a public crisis help line if you are ever in crisis. In the end of treatment there the councilors that I dealt with twisted and distorted the reality of what happened and of what was said to where I was made to look like an awful person and was banned for what they say is a year but is really a lifetime ban. I can't even get casemanagement services anywhere and I have been told by Voc. Rehab that I really need that service. I went months without any support even when in crisis after being banned before I found a place that was willing to help provide services. Most places refuse treatment because of the extent of my mental health so I have no choices available to me now.
