A multi-leaf collimator (MLC), which consists of multiple, computer controlled, finger-like leaves, delivers the custom shaped radiation beams.

Ultrasound
BAT (B-mode Acquisition and Targeting) is an ultrasound-based targeting system used with IMRT and external beam radiation, to precisely localize targets. To accomplish great precision it uses technologies of 3-D computer imaging, a sophisticated linear accelerator alignment and delivery system, and advanced ULTRASOUND technology.

Increasing in size and purpose, in 1985, Beverly Oncology & Imaging opened its second office in the Wilshire / Fairfax community and, in 1987, its third office opened in Pasadena, With this expansion, in 1990, we installed the first Open Bore MRI in order to service both larger or claustrophobic patients. Beverly Oncology & Imaging continued to advance by applying the first HDR (high Dose Radiation) with the Nucletron Corporation in LA County and in 1993 implemented the first frameless stereotactic radiosurgery system in Southern CA.

Computed Tomography
This department assists in detecting and diagnosing cancerous masses for therapeutic purposes in our Oncology department. Our CT scan services are used both for Beverly Oncology & Imaging 's patients fighting cancer and others throughout the community. Computed Tomography ( CT scans ) allows us to get cross-sectional images of your body in order to detect cancer, tumors, blood clots, and other diseases and conditions.
Chemotherapy
In addition to all the valuable uses of radiation with surgery and as an isolated therapy, photon radiation is the primary complimentary treatment associated with chemotherapy. Although a very effective treatment, chemotherapy is strenuous on a cancer patient’s body and can only be administered in intermittent treatment sessions.

Neurosurgery
This therapy is provided by a well-trained team of clinicians from Neurosurgery, Radiation Oncology and Medical Physics. Lesions
Multiple brain tumors can be treated in a single pass. In addition, it is able to treat malignancies stereotactically in other parts of the body including the prostate, liver, pancreas, and certain colon lesions. Some tumors of the head and neck can be treated while sparing the parotid glands. Now, lesions near the spinal cord can be treated safely as well. The hallmark of IMRT is its accurate dosage delivery for both single and multiple faction treatments using an average of 10,000 individual converging beams of photons (x-rays) per session. Its pinpoint precision ensures that the therapeutic dose of radiation conforms to the shape of the lesion while sparing the surrounding healthy tissues.
